That is bad fractured logic, like your earlier posts. Fringe is not interchangeable with “ahead of one’s time”. Galileo, Brunel, Edison, von Braun: massive innovators but not fringe.
Fringe has become synonymous with obviously fractured process, like Qanon and Falun Gong and MAGA. These are fringe. Trans rights are not fringe. Jewish space lasers are fringe.

Any kind of government can foster an authoritarian ruler if that's what the people fall for. But as a rule most of them hide behind collectivism. That way the "good of the people" trumps morals.

In the early 1920's a solid state computer based on the electrical properties of silicon would get you laughed out of the room. Everyone knew vacuum tubes worked fine.

Fire or computers were never considered fringe. They were technologies that radically changed humanity.
Polyurethane condoms are my go to so I tossed them in the mix because they make my life more enjoyable.

Remember that just a few short years ago all of the cultural "advancement" we've made was fringe.
No ideology is right. Any worldview needs constant revision from outside itself to be as true as possible. If you're a believer in the current views of either party remember that they were both vastly different 20-30 years ago, and that ideas from their fringe made it to the party platforms.
