Indoor veggie grow

Well I was psyched to do the square foot gardening method but after seeing how much space I actually had to work with I went from four rows of four to three rows of three. I also had a Sicilian chili plant that I started earlier so I think space wise this is the best for the first time.

Chili, 2 dwarf tomatoes, 2 eggplants, 2 cucumber vines in one 5 gallon, 2 arugula or varied lettuces, and a carrot bucket being seeded tonight.
600W COB, I think I'm gonna run at 50%. Should be fun. Obviously not feeding the family, just some home grown produce.

In my 2X4 I have 5 plants from seed in 3 gallon containers. 320W COB. Will weed out the males and go with two best females.

I took a Limoncello male and pollinated a Grape Blow from Envy as well as my Tangie/Rainbow hybrid I've been growing for about 4 years. I used the F1s. They're still my favorite. I went to F3 with a mother and never got the results I got from the original F1s. Only had about 15-20 seeds left so experimenting to see if I get any cool phenos.

Anybody else try to grow a garden in a 4X4?

I've wanted to try a indoor garden but I haven't really researched the difference in light that a veggie garden plants need compared to cannabis. Any insight on this ?

I want the tomatoes Squash Zucchini Peppers Herbs and cucumbers . But I'm not sure on the amount of light needed I do believe it's less than cannabis if I remember correctly from one article I've read . I'll have to look into it more to refresh my brain and take notes .

Squash and zukes need alot of room.

I think I might could do 2 plants of each with the space I have to work with along with the other plants

Yeah you don't need as much light.
I have 600W in the tent dialed down to 70% so that's about 420W.
The tough thing is the plants grow different heights.

I think you're gonna find that plants love the environment and they grow big quick.
I would start with less plants.
You'll probably get more out of it that way.

I have a bigger tent coming, and the lady wants romaine, and maybe a tomato in the old one
I think Romaine would be easy.
You could even stack two levels if the tent is tall enough.
Not if you have tomatoes in there though.

I would start tomatoes first since the heirloom varieties I like tend to get huge and take awhile to make fruit . Peppers are easily managed on size , the squash and zucchini make fruit pretty quick and do get large so I'd guess doing those last would be easiest

Me too. I want it all. This is the first time I've ever grown anything other than pot.

It seems that the pepper plants want 10° higher than everybody else. And you have to pay attention to the depth of the seeds very closely. They vary all over the place. And actually germination can take 3 days or 3 weeks. And it's really easy to spray lettuce seeds where they don't belong. Half the seeds I planted were too small for me to see individually without 3x glasses on.

There's about 350 starts in there with about 50% germination of all the good edible stuff, this picture is after about 2 weeks from planting, and the herbs and spices are taking much longer along with the peppers.

All of this will end up in a 4x8 and I will put trellises up the walls for all the tomatoes and other viney stuff.

My house is 20 miles from the closest decent produce stand. And they're only open two months a year. I'll be feeding two people well out of this 4x8.

And yes, I know this is way way too much for a 4x8. As I thin it out I will eat the baby plants. Almost everything I grow I can eat the leaves. But I know how to manage space and have multiple lights which can be at multiple angles and multiple heights. And I can always pick up more.

When spring comes I'll decide what goes into the half hoop greenhouse.

Definitely aggressive, but I like your plan using some as microgreen types.
A couple things I learned on my current run.
Being as the lights are straight overhead, you get quite a bit of shading. Placement of the shorter stuff is key.
Humidity really gets up there with so many plants.
Watering is a pain if you can't access the side door panels.
Plants on the edges lean towards the center hot spot. Way more than cannabis. Gonna have to stake and rotate.
Carrots for some reason didn't like the tent. They all damped off. At least that's what I think it was.
Hoping to see some great produce from you. Good luck!

So I pickled the cukes and chilis in one jar. Should be spicy!
I just checked the date of the first post. 2 months.
No eggplants yet. Some tomatoes but not too many. About 20 cukes.
The chili peppers are doing great though. They’re a natural for a tent. I guess cukes too.
But the cannabis is looking great two months later!38B34387-2C07-4375-9C70-804F5654B9FE.jpeg

How many hours were you giving the cukes inside? I'm thinking to start growing them indoors

Finally some fruit on the eggplant.
A tomato starting to ripen.
They look like they’ll be pretty.
The cannabis is doing great.
Two plants from the same mom and father and they couldn’t look more different.

I started an garden with tomatoes, peppers, zucchini and eggplant. I put in the ground some dehydrated manure and I'm only adjusting the water temperature and ph (20 °C and pH of 6/7).

I started with innests prepared to resist to pathogens. The soil is extremely poor of nutrients, and I think that the manure will be out in something like a couple of months.

When and if the plants will show some signals of suffering, I will start with bio-nutrients. The plants had a very good response and I was able to start almost every plant (2 out of 5 eggplants suffered form cold and now are in a limbo between life and death)

I’m ready to quit on the eggplant.
Going on 4 months. Not worth the energy.
Neither were the tomatoes. I chopped them to make room for some cherry peppers.
Chilis are the way to go.

The Sicilian cayenna is full of green fruits still.
Been harvesting ripe ones for weeks now.
