Blumat for watering

So, I started using Blumat for automatic watering, but it's not the dropping one, this one is with ceramic, and basically, it ensures the soil is always moist, and the plant takes up water once she needs to.

Any thoughts on how efficient this is? Or anyone who uses it? Do I feed like normally, mixed with water twice or thrice a week?

Appreciate any input.:bigjoint:

Love them!!!

If I was feeding anything I’d just water it in like normal from the top and keep the blumats and rez for plain water only, just me.

I know a few people who feed with them and have no problems at all.

I think I need this for the flowering room having a hard time keeping the soil wet with just a couple looks a day. Two 5" carrots per 3.5 gal container in FF soil?

Does the supply water need to be elevated or is it all suction?

One would work. They put out a lot of water for how small the hoses are. I didn't screw one of them tight enough to close it all of the way after I took it out of the pot during harvest, and it drained like a quarter of my res in about an hour or so.

So your tank is elevated above the soil?

I think I would rather use a 20 gallon elevated tank as it would fit in nicely with the current setup.
That's less potential problems. Today I'm going to start cleaning / resetting my flowering room, and I've been pondering a double bucket system. Right now my res has a floater valve, so the plants are drinking un-ph'd water overnight until I mix nutrients the next day. I may downsize my res and use it to collect water, then mix the nutes and pump it to the holding res.

Yes it should be elevated at least 3 feet above your pots, the higher your res the better pressure you get the better the blumats work.
I had a few runaways this round, wasn't sure why it kept happening but as soon as I started adding water to my res to keep it at least half full it hasn't happened again. I'm thinking my res when it's close to empty is not high enough for good pressure causing runaways. When I keep it at close to half full or more all is good.
