Weed strain for my daughter with anxiety.

My daughter is 23 years old and is prone to panic attacks and anxiety, they are getting slightly better now she is older and in a better place with her life. She can't drink alcohol as it really gives her bad panic attacks where she can't even breath properly. She is the type who tries to put on a brave front but I can often see she is struggling. She recently told me when she socializes she often feels a bit left out as she doesn't drink or take any kind of drugs whatsoever including weed and never has. She asked me about smoking weed as some of her friends vape THC juice.

Now some weed can make me feel really anxious and paranoid so I want to be careful what advise I give her. I told her I would grow something for her to try, just hope I am doing the right thing to encourage her to smoke weed but rather that than she tried something else or alcohol. I have bought some seeds from "Delicious Seeds" ( Deep Mandarin and Cbd Jam ) they are around 1-1 to 1-3 THC to CBD (around 4-10% of THC) and also some Delimed CBD Plus which is almost THC free. I thought the THC free if she wants to just chill and and maybe medicate if she feels anxious or depressed and the 1-1 for if she has friends around and wants to relax while they drink or whatever.

She is a very sensible girl and I have told her no one has ever drank or smoked their way out of a bout of anxiety or depression. Tried a few herbals for her Ashwaganda etc and they do help to some extent but it may be the placebo effect.

Question is do you guys think I am doing the right thing?

Honestly, a person that prone to panic attacks and anxiety should stay away from smoking and try a Xanax, Valium, or colonapin as prescribed by a doctor. Especially if alcohol doesn't work.

At home all is well, but there is not a strain in the world that has lowered my anxiety in a stressful situation.

Showing up to court high, dentist visit, meeting new people, or simply driving with a cop behind me all were bad ideas that I could have done much better sober. IMO

Many thanks for your reply OG but I am afraid Xanax, Valium, or colonapin would be the very last thing I would advise her to take. They are all addictive poison IMHO. To my mind big pharma is one big money making scam run by people who have no morals whatsoever but once again thanks for your input.

I’ll agree with you except on the dentist visit part. High as a kite, close the eyes and drift off into another world, they let you know when they are done. Won’t go to dentist ever again without seeing how high I can get first.

I agree with you 100%. I would stay away and keep my kids from taking any of those I mentioned and try to find a better remedy.

My only mention of this is because it sounds like her quality of life is diminished by her anxiety, which i can relate to. I don't blame you a bit for asking for recommendations and trying to find an alternative to big pharma. I wish I could be more helpful.

Props to you for caring and trying alternatives. Wishing you all the best of luck.

I always get the nitrous gas... I don't know what they are drilling or pulling, but don't really care when sedated. LOL

With some people THC can make anxiety much worse. I'd look at high CBD strains like you have but 4-10% THC may be too high.

Have you gone through looking at dietary changes like eliminating caffeine, sugar, processed food, and eating balanced meals regularly?

For a herbal remedy valerian root is used by many.

I think that I would rather my child use a flower than a pill, hands down if you think that would help. I don’t

i don’t agree with this statement at all. As a person who stays high all day every day it helps me manage my anxiety. I use a dugout and take a hit or two every few hours all day. I’m not like “ blazin out dabs bro” or some crap. I use cannabis as medicine and in moderation. I respect the plant and the plant helps me. I believe I use it as God intended man to use the herbs and medicinal plants here. The part of your statement I do agree with is that caution should be used in dosage and strain selection for someone in that position. HOWEVER Cannabis may very well be life changing for her, I KNOW it is for me. My 2 cents

Yes I agree Ztsho, it can happen when I smoke certain strains but when it does I just reassure my self it is the weed making me anxious and it usually fades and I get a better feeling. My thoughts on the matter are that the higher CBD 1-1 ratio should prevent any feelings of anxiety.

Lots of places sell cbd only products these days, I would start there. Even if you don't live in a legal state, you can buy CBD stuff online. My wife does all the time.
One thing I would suggest to watch out for when choosing the high CBD strain is that some of them are crossed to Sativas which work great for depression but can get racy, and obviously you should be the guinea pig when you do grow something and try it yourself first.

Will be a very willing guinea pig. Strange how Sativas can relieve depression, one of my favorites is Sensi Jack Herer which is 50/50 hybrid and it just fills me with feel good zero anxiety.

I like high CBD strains a lot, CBD adds another dimension for sure. Medic by Ice River Genetics was great, Grapefruit all the way, developed for veterans with PTSD based on the description. I've also been growing Mephistos (Auto) CannaCheese (Cannatonic x Northern Cheese Haze) and it's great daytime smoke. Wake n bake n get shit done strain for me. Hard to come by those beans though, I was lucky to have 1 or 2 herm while I grew a 5 pack and ended up with enough seeds to last me a while.

That’s the most shit advice I’ve ever heard. Absolutely bullshit. Go away.

Encourage her to speak to her psychiatrist about using Inderal (Propanolol) for panic attacks. We used it a lot off label for anxiety. I used it every time I had to speak publicly. It works well, only lasts about 4 hours (regular not long acting), is non-addictive and doesn't have the side effect of anxiety that some cannabis has.

Best of luck in working and supporting her with this. Also if she's using pot to help have her keep 25 mg of Benadryl on hand. Taking 25 mg of Benadryl is a quick and effective way of dealing with anxiety related to some cannabis strains.

I suffer from PTSD, anxiety, public anxiety depression, insomnia, and lack of appetite.

Staying away from weed to treat my condition is ludacris advise. Most seed banks have a filter where you can choose to search for strains that treat ailments. I stay away from strains that can cause anxiety or paranoia that is also listed in the effects. Headband, cotton candy kush, jack skellington, Aurora borealis are a few I use

Weed can cause anxiety too... so be very careful. Try a high cbd stain and I woukd tend to microdose.

Becoming addicted to weed at a young age caused lots of issues for me including anxiety. Now I am more mature I know I only need a very tiny amount to make me feel better and sleep well and deal with stress.
