How much water would you feed around week 3 vegging soil seems to be drying out rapidly ?

Are you just watering the patch around the plant? Water the whole thing. The roots won't grow into dry medium.
So this comes to my question . How much . Given the size does it require a full watering to add moisture to the whole thing . Usually about 2litre

At the minute I'm watering roughly about 6 inch circumference around the plant but not the full pot

Pick up the pot to get a feel for dry weight. Then water until you get runoff and pick it up again to get a feel for saturated weight. There's no set amount of water because there are a lot of variables.

What your saying is water until run off the whole lot?

Roots spread out really quickly. When you only water around the plant, you're setting up what I call a "dry jail" for the roots. Always water evenly, and instead of the little around the plant thing, water less frequently when they are small.

I've never grown in soil, so I'm not sure about runoff. Maybe someone else could chime in. I do know that you want the soil to be saturated equally. Unless you're scrogging, the weight of the pot is your best indicator.

Water the entire surface area of the medium until you get a good amount of run off. Then feel the weight. When it gets to half that weight (approx), water it until you see some run off. I have no idea how much water a plant gets each time. I know how much water I use a week, but that is split up between my flowering plants, my vegging plants and my seedlings/cuttings.

What do you mean unless your scrogging what would that matter should you not always focus on even saturation ?

How do you measure your nutes if you don't know how much water . ?

I water until I see some runoff all the way around the pot, just enough so I know the soil is wet all the way through the pot. I don't see the point of running off 20% or whatever because you are just wasting money on water and fertiliser.

I have a 1 Imperial Gallon pressure sprayer. I measure the stated amount of nutrients per Imperial Gallon, in my case 20ml, and tip it in the sprayer's reservoir. I then add 10ml of Epsom Salt. I then add 1 Imperial Gallon of water to that, job done. I only use one fertiliser, I don't hold with all of these potions you have to mix out of many bottles.

I use one gallon jugs for my watering and do my nutrients per gallon. I mix up roughly what I think I'll be using (for example the recent run of autos I did had about 3.5g of soil each and 4 cloth bags so I did about 6g of feed or water at a feed. I prefer to feed slowly to help evenly soak so I use a 1L watering can with a small aperture spout and do 1L each pot until they're running off and then until the saucers are full (my plants are raised above the saucers.

If I were doing more plants or bigger, I'd just mix in larger containers (2gal, 5 gal, etc) and get that distributed. In the end, it's not about 'I gave this plant 1g. it's more about I watered/fed until the soil holds all it can and also the runoff has helped push out the old stuff.

What I did learn the hard way, is that if you're not watering to runoff, you'll most likely lock out later on if you're not in a living soil/hot soil and are feeding salts, etc. Then you have to flush in a more serious way to get back to where you need to be.

This sounds overly complicated. If you only have a few plants, mix up your nutrients in a 5 gallon bucket. If the bucket isn't big enough buy a res. You don't need to freshly mix nutrients for every use.

I grew massive plants in 1/2 gallon pots during my last grow. What I learned was the amount of roots needed is relative to number of feedings. Before this I was obsessed with getting as big of a root system as possible. Now I believe it's unnecessary. You can grow a full sized plant out of a 4" rockwool cube if your watering game is on point.
you can, but it leaves you ZERO room for fuck ups....something most people can't afford, because they WILL fuck up
