Calcium deficiency?

Hi All-

I am new to no till and need a hand diagnosing some leaf damage I am seeing. Overall my three plants appear pretty healthy, but something is up and I want to understand what is happening and correct it. I am on the first day of week 5 flower.

This is a first cycle no till using the coot mix. Calcium sources were coast of main lobster meal and gypsum.
Is this a calcium deficiency or something else?

I do not PH and I am using RO water as my water report was pretty scary.

my last top dress was a couple weeks back, dr earth bloom, and handful of lobster meal and fresh worm castings.

I appreciate anyone’s input and can provide any other needed details.

I just had similar.... mine was the ph drifting down due to my ph pen being off....

Whats your ph?

the water report showed high chemical levels above the level the EWG recommends, but that is for human drinking I suppose. The PPM I measured was around 170. So just let it sit out for a day to off gas chloramine/ chlorine?

do those brown spots appear to be calcium related?

I would say pH as well. If I'm not mistaken gypsum is high in calcium but makes the soil more acidic, which may have altered the uptake.

Small boy filter. Removes 99% chlorine and sediment. Only around 100 bucks. No waste water. It’s a two stage and works great for city water.
Until then just use your tap water. Or even if your super scared use 50%tap and 50% ro maybe??

Thanks everyone. I just re-checked and my town uses chlorine, not chloramine. I’ll check out that filter. I’m the meantime can I just fill a 5 gallon bucket and bubble it overnight?

I guess everyone agrees the brown spots on the leaves pictured is calcium related?

Yes and the interviened slight yellowing is mg

I'm not an expert on any deficiency, I just don't have any deficiency's. CPR ( Compost) Here's something I do know; Diatomacious Earth has 3% magnesium, 5% sodium, 2% iron 19% calcium 33% silicate and many other minerals. It is chelated also( instant/water soluble). You've to ALWAYS monitor the pH to low or to high will lock out several nutrients mineral and NPK.

A good tip for this. Go to your local nursery and talk to them about how they are watering. If they are going right from tap, then you should be find to do so as well. Stop using RO unless you plan on using Cal-Mag. Call your water company and ask them what your CaCO3 (Calcium Carbonate) levels are in PPM. Ask them what they PH the water to.

And while you can off gas chlorine its really not that necessary. People will argue this till the end of time. But if golf courses use tap water to grow grass in deserts, and nursery use drip systems from tap, nvm the millions people watering their lawns from the spigot, you be alright.

I don't know how much lobster meal or gypsum you put in there, but I know calcium deficiencies in soil are rare, especially when using tap water. I see you are using RO, but I would still take a closer look or wait for some better advice. Typically signs of calcium deficiency (which is what your leaves look like, without more information) are rather a lockout caused by excess phosphorous.

I would be careful before adding more calcium.
