Quickie question

I see quite a few pre-harvest pics with no fan leaves. Is that a thing? What's the reason, and is it beneficial in any way?

Some people feel the need to strip all fan leaves for bigger buds. I’m not biting on it. I feel they feed the buds as well. I do strip the bottom third of the plant for better airflow and not having the plant waiste energy on those leaves and tiny buds

Yup, my average yields are only about 2 ounces per plant.

If the plant is ready wouldn't it be worth removing some around the top of the canopy to allow light into the lower buds for 2-3 days a week whatever.
Some growers that defoliate reckon buds are better with direct light?

I could understand some defoliation but not stripping them all. And if you clean up the bottoms all the big buds are at the tops anyways.-bk 2oz per plant lol. Saved pic for what I consider what to shoot for

Lol think we may have taken the same photography class. Took a model car and put on hedges and took photo to look like full size muscle car in driveway many years ago

I will selectively remove the odd leaf after a session of LST and I will Lollypop the lower third of the plant before flipping, but other than that I leave them be. As far as I am concerned stripping the plant of leaves to improve yield is a complete oxymoron. Plants need the leaves to photosynthesize, so removing them is only going to hamper that process and as far I know a reduction in photosynthesis will reduce yield and/or the overall quality of the product.

Meh, defol or not. Personal preference. If your tents crammed and you're not getting light to lowers than that will cause more issues than pulling a few leaves off.
I've done both defol and not. Some strains take well to it others not as much. Farmers defoliate tomatoes to get more sun on the fruit. You want big fruit not big leaves. It's a big debate on here. Personally I dont care either way. I'm neither for nor against it. Ill defol but don't go as crazy as the shwazee or whatever you call it. It's just a practise I was taught a long time ago by some big time growers, so I trust their judgement. Plus I like to cram as much nug into a space that I can and if I didn't defol I'd just have a bunch of underlighted larf buds and some awsome huge fan leaves.
Not really what I'm going for.

Defoliation is not something that I practice beyond clearing the bottom 3rd but atm I'm getting high af humidity, I've not seen under 63% for the duration of this grow.
I need to try either defoliation or cutting back on the plant count.
