Pot size guidance

Yo, going to be starting a one-pot grow in a 40x40x120cm tent soon. Looking at pots right now for my setup, planning to grow 'shogun' and want to LST/SCROG to keep the height down. Can you pick a pot that is too big? I was thinking of going for a 35cmx35cm square fabric pot which would fit the tent nicely with some space for air circulation. That is 37L or 8 gallons... is this too big?? Can you go too big with pots?

I dont think too big is a thing, l use 5g at least.

wellcome to rollitup, you wont be disapointed you joined. thats a little over sized, try a 5 gallon pot, should work fine in there size wize

You are doing only one plant I assume ?
A three gallon will fill that net but a five will be more forgiving on watering schedule , preferably a low profile wide type

Agree, if you want to water till run off then you need to size the pot to the plant, or start small pot and go up potting as you go. Small flower in big pit with run off means it takes much too long to dry the pot, wet roots meanwhile and possible nute build up.

If its water only, all nutes in the soil, then you get around needing run off

The plant will reflect its rootball. You cannot use a container “too large” for the rootball, you can go to small. Different shapes of containers will effect the shape of the plant along with the light source.

I've get over 3.3# with a 7 gallon (scrog plant size just under 5x5)
and 1.5+ with a 5gallon (scrog plant size just under 3x3)
