*I love a Michelada on mornings.... FIFYLove a Michelada on Sunday mornings.
A popular mix of beer here in Portland used to be what was called a black and tan. It was a stout and an ale.I call them black and red's... To the untrained ear , in spanish would sound racist View attachment 5028222
But this has a tomatoish ? juice base. Don't get me wrong , a black&tan is a beautiful thingA popular mix of beer here in Portland used to be what was called a black and tan. It was a stout and an ale.
No tomato, just beer. A Michelada sounds like something I need to try.But this has a tomatoish ? juice base. Don't get me wrong , a black&tan is a beautiful thing
It's called a half and half in Ireland because of this:No tomato, just beer. A Michelada sounds like something I need to try.
So what’s the other spices?Just bottled up some Ginger beer. If my measurements and calculations are correct I'm right around 8% ABV. It tastes like it as well. But I think I screwed up taking the initial measurement. I'm making another batch right now. Different recipe. This one was good but doesn't have the flavor I want. I'm using brown sugar and molasses instead of white sugar. Of course I threw some other spices in there as well just to give it a fuller flavor.
Nothing secret. I just used a piece of cinnamon stick, a couple cloves and a piece of vanilla bean. I guess it's not really a true ginger beer but more like a spiced ginger brew. It's definitely not something for everyday drinking but might be nice while sitting inside over the winter. This will be my last ginger beer for awhile. I think I'm going to give brewing actual beer another try. It's been awhile and when I did in the past I made mistakes that I'm aware of now. Next up will be an IPA. That way if I mess it up I can cover it up.So what’s the other spices?
Or are they proprietary?
Mash out your own grain if possible.Nothing secret. I just used a piece of cinnamon stick, a couple cloves and a piece of vanilla bean.
