What are your thoughts on this light?

My first thoughts without looking at the light are ”wow” 10w LEDs? The Samsung Lm301 series mid power leds are about .3 watt. That must be some awesome new tech, or not very efficient, one or the other.

I think if you already have the light it will work for veg, and you could use it the whole grow if you’d like. I don’t know what size your grow room or tent are, how many plants you have, ceiling height, etc, those would be deciding factors. I would look at more efficient lighting if just starting out, Samsung diodes are popular for a reason, great ROI. I’m not one for recommending brands, do your homework. I have HLG, Viparspectra, and even a few Big Box Store bought bulbs from when I started so I just have them. Make what you have work, but do your homework and buy what fits and is efficient.

It might be sold as a 1000W light but it's only 180 real watt blurple. It says a 2.5 square foot flower footprint but more likely it will flower a 1.5 or 2 square foot area - max. But blurples will give you some OK bud. I used the Viparspectra Reflector series lights before I upgraded to the HLG QB's and Timber COB's.

What is the size of your tent?

It's a closet and woild it give me a lot of trichomes or would trichome production factor more than just the light source?

That light isn't enough. It's also outdated blurple. Turn the other red switch on at least.

And if you want to get better light, tell us the dimensions of the closet and your budget and we can help you find something way better, or something to add to that light.

You're also gonna have to figure something out for when you flower. It needs uninterrupted darkness. I used Panda Film to cover my closet doors.

OP: this light is going to under perform modern white growlights by a fair bit in light output. It will grow though. If this is the first time with this light id go ahead and finish the grow and see what you get per watt. If you get up to 1g/w youve done really well, but a more modern light could give similar yield at 100-120 watts.

One tip: never ever choose a light by going onto amazon and browsing, looking at those 1 line reviews. You can find good lighting on amazon but research what people have been grwoing with here on riu for an idea of what works. The amazon offerings is 90% utter rubbish, 9 percent slightly more modern garbage (but still better han that blurple, and in roughly the same price range, "good enough lights" so to speak if on a budget).
For an idea: your likely to get more light by just using some 140lum/w ikea or similar led light on bulbs and taking of the plastic casing. Several people have pulled off decent grows here in this way. But better getting something decent or good enough.

If you want tips on lighting best thing to do is give your dimensions of grow space, including height, budget, location (as in buying in the Americas or europe) and an idea of how you keep your environment in line (vented outside, inside, ac??)

My thoughts are ld give ten for a 150w 3k mono board thats passivley cooled but if its what youve got use it for veg. Buy a newer style light to flower.

Well I did a whole room and got a six degree increase

Not arguing just a warning
Allow me to clarify, I using a 5x5 before I bought a separate veg tent, when the plants were young/small I'd put them into a corner and I used a mylar covered reflector effectively making a 2.5/3ft square that kept the light in but wasn't isolated from the ventilation.

A 6c increase would be great for me what did you line your tent with?
I'm planning on lining my tent with diamond mylar in the near future.

Cheers
