How many times can a plant be cloned?

Now I've heard of people keeping a mother plant for up to ten years, and I understand that she could make hundreds if not thousands of clones in that time. My question goes in another direction. I have a girl that seeds are no longer available for. The breeder has passed (RIP Subcool) so there is no chance of starting with new seeds. Instead of keeping a mother alive and having her get humongous I have been taking clones from plants before flipping to flower. I am now around ten "generations" into this process. So I've got a clone of a clone of a clone of a clone of a clone of a clone of a clone of a clone of a clone of a clone. Can I keep doing this forever? Will there be any loss of quality/potency over time?

That's what I've been doing. I've got 4 fresh cuttings in root riot cubes right now. Two for next grow and two to make sure they root.
Wait, what is shining? Never heard of that.
I tried using ionized silver on a healthy clone once but it never made a male flower. I might have got the wrong stuff though. When it came I noticed it said it was a dietary supplement. The ppm was within what I had read would cause it to become male though.
If there is another way to force a bit of non hermie pollen out of a plant I'd be willing to give it a try.

Yeah I guess I misrembered what I used. It was colloidal silver. May give the silver Thiosulfate a try though. If I could make a few seeds that would give me a backup if I choose to run something else for a couple of cycles.

shining is my hillbilly term for forcing pollen from a flower like you said. shining a small light on a flower in dark cycle a few times early on will do it.

You can do it until you get genetic mutations which affect the plant in a negative way. Then it's game over. It may never happen, but it's also possible.

Saving the genetics by way of seeds is your best bet. You don't need to reverse the female, you could just get some reg seeds of another variety, find a male to cross it with, then back cross the progeny to the mother.

Lol, I cracked 10 reg seeds I was gifted about 2 months the ago. Of those 10, 9 germinated but only 6 survived. Of those 6 all 6 are female. I was thinking if I had 1 male I would get some pollen .... But noooo, if I had wanted all female they would probably been split 50/50. They are in flower now. I hadn't thought about crossing back with an original. Probably wouldn't be exactly the same but should be close to the original.
