Started 50 seeds ended with 1 female plant

I grow almost exclusively from seed and from my experience seed vigor as you call it is not always representative of which plant is going to end up being the most vigorous. Sometimes the runt of the batch is slow to grow but can end up passing other seedlings that seemed more vigorous in the beginning. I would not use seed vigor as a determining factor for culling plants.
I think this is where my outdoor growing experience has done me in. I think seedling vigor is a much bigger factor outdoors than it is indoors. IMHO

Vigor maybe is too vague a term. Ive kept slow growing but otherwise healthy, not deformed seedlings thru to flower. May take 4-7 weeks longer on the whole grow.
But seedlings that dont have a meristem tip, leaves that never go from single blades after 4 weeks, too thin, snap stems with watering can, and other criteria are culls in my nursery.

Weak retarded seedlings rarely become stars. Its another sign of poor genetics IMO. Research and talk to the breeders, if can to sniff out bullshit. Seeds here now is just a resale site. Not direct from breeder. Nor even made by the breeder.
Ive made crosses that all the seedlings were weak, or deformed in ways, lacked vigor to others started at same time. I just trash em and feed the seed to birds. But ive always got extras.
No question. Some of the Archive seedlings definitely had some issues.

I didn't mean keeping those whacked out seedlings that look like something from an Alien movie.

But the ones that just start out slower but have good leaf structure and are normal can catch up. Those one with crooked, crinkly, deformities from sprout are not usually going to amount to much. I suppose it's possible to find some mutation that you could potentially isolate like that Bastard weed or some of the other strains that are oddities. But those are not really good strains but rather novelties. Although they seem to be strains people are willing to pay top dollar to get the genetics.

Like freak show. I also usually cull "web or duck foots" they make bud but inferior to their sisters.

I got older friends who know bodhi and the mandelbrot collective. So getting potentially really really really good seeds isn't a risk like mail order. Even those guys have odd ball side projects.
The hunt and breeding for "red sap" is one a few are doing on the side. They are saying its purely an aesthetic thing, but there's probably more they are not saying.

I had red sap on an outdoor Chernobyl plant back in the 2010’s.

What's the significance of red sap? What does it add? I've come across it over the years. It's not anything to pay extra for.

Go for Feminized seeds instead of regular seeds. You won't get any males this way. And if you get hermies you can just pluck the male sacks off with your fingers. I suggest going with inhouse Genetics. https://www.cannabis-seeds-bank.co.uk/in-house-genetics/cat_238 Make sure you don't have any light leaks in your grow room And also you don't want your grow room totally sealed. make sure you get a good carbon filter to remove the stale air :bigjoint:

I guess its like purple colored weed. Hype. Ive a seed line that most finish as indigo bud and makes purple hued bubble hash and roz at 90ų screen. No difference than my sandy colored runs.
I remember years back pink pistils was a sign of fire herb or so we thought.

Or get regular seeds hoping for both males and females so you can make more seeds and never have to buy that strain again. Or you could do that with feminized seeds and just reverse one for pollen and make a bunch of feminized seeds and never pay for that strain again. Buy once. Grow forever.

Admittedly, I’ve been out of the indoor game for several years. I’ve been growing outdoors for the last decade + , and have had no need for indoor. But situations have changed and I set up a sealed cO2 room, 10x8 with 2k of air cooled DE HPS lights, Using 15 gallon air pots and 900 ppm CO2 for veg. Growing in SubCools SuperSoil. After starting 5 packs and sorting through the retarded seedlings, pulling males and herms as thy showed up, I was left with 10 plants to grow. As time went on, all Hermied or turned out to be male.
What is going on??? Am I doing something wrong??? I feel like it’s a conspiracy! I’ve been growing for 25 years and never had this problem.
Something sounds off. Are you trying to sex them early? That seems rather extreme
