The credit-reporting companies say they are continuing to offer free weekly access to reports “to help people across the country manage their financial health during the ongoing hardship caused by COVID-19.” Prior to the pandemic, federal law stated that all consumers could access one free credit report every 12 months from each of the three credit-reporting companies. That federal law remains intact. But last year, Equifax, Experian and TransUnion voluntarily expanded free access from once per year to once per week until April 2021. Now, the companies are offering another year of the same policy.
