Sometimes its purely genetics. And sometimes purple can indicate a possible phosphorus deficiency, as @curious2garden mentioned. Its just difficult to tell the difference some times.

That pic was taken right after I shucked the big fan leaves. I harvested her 2 days later, to let the cuts dry up. It just makes the final trim faster n easier. Here she was before I chopped her fans.

because your average consumer is brain washed and thinks purple weed is automatically better. its what sells now.

I love me some purple aesthetically, but strains have become so mixed and indecipherable these days. Everyone was so keen to mix purple into every strain, that basically every bag seed has the chance of showing purple with the right conditions these days.
It's also so hard to find a good sativa dom in general.
