Christmas tree strain?

I remember this Christmas Tree Bud. We got it in Florida around Christmas. A friend of mine knew a guy that grew a huge plant in his back yard and covered it up during the winter and it came back every year. It smelled like a Christmas tree, not a pine tree. A pine tree smells horrible. The Christmas Tree Bud we were getting back in the mid 80s smelled very sweet and fruity, yet evergreen....more sweet than pine, actually sugar sweet, some of the best tasting bud I ever had in my life!. Many great terps from the early to mid 80s completely disappeared, never to be seen again it seems. The stuff we were getting definitely didn't smell like a pine tree. Yuck! No one mentioned the sweet, so I am assuming this new stuff just smells like a pine tree. No one mentioned smoking it if it was sweet so, who knows? Maybe someone will come along with an actual smoke report of the new Christmas tree.

There's a Christmas tree pheno of golden tiger that tastes like honey oats/granola that is absolutely electric/euphoric. Sweet and slightly spicy, no funk at all during flower, zero pine either.

Thanks for that information. I have heard good things about golden tiger. I started smoking in 1978. Back then, it was pretty much all import, Colombian Gold, Panama Red, and Mexican weed that we got. It was never green an seedless, that didn't come around where I lived in Florida until the early 1980s. I think the first "sinsemilla" I came across and smoked was in 1982. I couldn't believe the pot was green, and so fresh and without seeds!
All the import stuff was mostly loaded with seeds, but still very potent smoke. An ounce of Colombian Gold depending on grade was anywhere from $25-$30 bucks. Once the sinsemilla came out, "the Gainesville Green" they called the early batches, prices rose on post from $5 for a "nickel bag" or quarter ounce to $30 per quarter ounce.
But the sinsemilla we were getting was such high quality. I was getting stuff from even up North. Some of the best weed I smoked was this stuff that was green, flecked with purple, and smelled just like cotton candy.
The point I really want to make, is that all of the weed back then was pretty much sweet, especially the sinsemilla, green seedless bud that was being grown domestically. I think the only "gassy" weed back in those days may have been some of the more fuel Colombian Gold. I remember taking hits and it expanded like crazy and make you cough your lungs out. But the flavor was heavenly. It still had a sweet delicious aroma and smoke. Same with the Panama Red, the Mexican was almost always very sweet, and I think the first really fuel laden weed I got was some Jamaican Lambsbred in the mid 1980s.
I remember in the late 80s and early 90s, it seemed like all the weed went to Roadkill Skunk flavors. It has pretty much been that way ever since. All the green bud has fuel and skunk, the sweet tropical flavors are gone it seems, except for a few cultivars like Tangie for example. The original Juicy Fruit Thai was very sweet and mouthwatering. All the original seedless sinsemilla was sweet bud.
I remember getting Afghanistan bud that was sweet too, it was never skunky road kill vomit flavors and aroma. It was always like a very sweet cheddar cheese kind of smell. Most of the bud back then was sweet and delicious. Somehow it turned over to Sour Diesel style and Road Kill Skunk flavors. Not to say the weed isn't fantastic now, it is just so much different in flavors. I can still taste bud that I had 40 years ago if I think hard about it. Marijuana is evolving through time, it is indeed a beautiful plant, thank God we are blessed with such great medicine. Amen!

I know this is an old thread but nostalgia is a bitch. I have one plant from useful that I am using as a mother. Was the stock of Lucky Lime x 79 Xmas. Short plant, VERY tight internode spacing. Only wk 3 of flower so well see how she progresses. Have 4 clones rooted and ready to be potted.
I've got a couple packs of the 79 Xmas tree in the deep freezer. I want to run them but I keep getting drawn into the Kush rabbit hole. I'll get around to it eventually. I love pine terps so it's just a matter of when. Hope yours turns out like you hope.

79 Xmas Bud & 88G13HP are the work of NDN Guy . Xmas Bud by itself is a medium potency Afghani with a sweet taste & piney / evergreen scent . Extremely dominant in crosses . Vegs slowly inbred not a lot of vigor .
