Open Wound on Main Stem

Not for the first time, I snapped one of my mains during some training. It doesn't usually make much difference to the plant, and on this occasion it only caused a small part of the stem to rupture, so I carried on without attempting to do anything about it.

A week later, the plant is looking pretty healthy, but hasn't really closed this thing up. I am wondering if long term this semi open wound is likely to be an issue which might cause me some rot or some other problem... Any similar experiences or cautionary tales?

I don’t have any personal experience, but I’ve got to imagine an open wound that’s not healing won’t be a good thing long term. I’m pretty sure just wrapping in duct tape will work, but maybe wait until someone else chimes in

I like painters tape for stem splits. I actually was clued in to it rather recently by someone on these forums as an alternative to duct tape. I wish I could remember who so I could shout them out, but my old man stoner memory is failing me at the moment.

Tape probably doesn’t matter IMO. She’ll be fine, maybe a shot of fungicide but that will wood right up

I have thought about sealing it with some tape, just not sure if it's worth it. If the plant is already harbouring some fungus I also feel like it might be worse trapping it under tape rather than leaving it to dry out exposed to the air...

Tape works great don’t get me wrong. I just personally don’t think that needs it at least at this point

Don't do anything. Do not cover it. It'll be just fine.

I've caused worse than that on purpose. I didn't do shit. Just left it alone. Plant didn't care.

Don’t worry about it. It’ll slowly close up/scar over. I’ve split entire plants straight down the middle and ran them to finish.

I have had way worse than that and they have always been fine.

Still on my first grow so I don't know anything but back on day 20 something I snapped the whole main cola clean off. I've lost sight of it now in the bushy mess she is but I'm pretty sure to this day she never healed or attempted to cover up the hole

That far along? Not surprising.

I just let em heal on their own, if you are worried bout it get some (i think) it's called grafters wax.. made specifically for grafting branches together and great for wounds.

Not to highjack this thread but how bad of a break is too bad? I did the same thing to two of my autos that are about 38 days in. Really bad breaks. One was like 80%
Stuff is still green but will it make it?
tried using wire to pull the break closed

Youll be ok, more of an issue if you grow outdoor. You can seal a plant wound with wax, bee propolis, non-toxic latex paint, tape, etc.
