I've had those same thoughts...about finishing with an HPS but for me even if I gota pay a little more for the t5... no heat issues and low power consump are ideal for my situation. I also would love to know if it can be done with satisfactory results.

yea heat is not an issue for me...never gets above 80 or 81 in there. the humidity is kinda low right now at about 20 percent idk how to get that up without buying a humidifier, which i really do not want to do.

Guys....if you're going to use t5 for veg you better have upwards of 200w plus for a few plants. I use 144w of mixed (blue and red) t5 for a couple of plants in veg and then go to a 400w hps for flower. HIDs are definitely the way to go for flower. But t5's are excellent for vegging, seedlings, clones, and mothers.

I have 1 Blue Widow plant growing under a 2 foot 4 bulb T5 with all bloom bulbs installed. My side lighting is 2 3000k CFL's 30 watt and 23 watt.

She's in a 4 inch rockwool cube in a homemade ebb and flow table that's full of hydroton pellets, in my super stealth closet.

I hope to bring pictures some day soon to show you the amazing hair development. It's my first grow and I'm very excited. She should be done for my Christmas vacation to Mexico, yeeeah.

Peace out.

I am getting the feeling that flowering with t5s alone has never been done, impossible or not worth the effort. I am starting to think I better get a hps 400w ready.

flowering with T5 has been done. Just search "T5" and there are a few people who have done it. You get better results with everything else, but its still possible. I figure once im done flowering with T5's, ill use a small HPS to flower, and ill use the T5's for side lighting

Yes im sure it can be done...but from what I have read the t5 takes longer and the results are loose buds. Can anyone show evidenceto the contrary?

went to the local hydro shop and got a 400w hps with a cool tube. No sense in trying to blaze a trail when from what I have read with other peeps experiences using t5s. Im still glad I got them cause I think they will make a great clone and veg light. I will use them as a side light during flowering just to add some blue spectrum. Suppose to make the buds a bit more potent from what I hear. :bigjoint:
