aerogarden problems

planted 3 of the jointdoctor's "diesel ryder" into my aerogarden classic, using the aerogarden starting nutrients and just the standard lights which came with the hood. Two of my plants are very health with the first set of leaves coming out just fine. But the lone sprout in the corner still looks like it did the first day it popped out of the sponge. Is this normal to have one plant grow substantially slower than all the rest? just a friendly inquiery. Comments?

I'm also using an Aerogarden (Deluxe) for my first grow. So far, I've learned not to use any nutrients for the first 2 weeks, and I've also discovered that certain plants grow faster than others and I attribute this to the placement of the plants. Some areas seem to get more light than others. I would add extra lights (CFLs) to your space.

the problem plant is in the back left of the aerogarden.... and the most healthy is in the back right... maybe im just worrying about a slow growing seedling :P but i plan to add my 4 cfl's i got but i need to go to home depot and get a way to mount it.

100% right on! In fact, I would start with 1/2 a tab for the first week and switch to the whole tab later. I killed one of my sprouts by using too much nutrient. Less is more.

I would pick up some more lights and get some good nutrients for the bloom stage. You can do the whole grow with the AG tabs but the investment in bloom nutrients is well worth it. Good luck!

Hey Bartleby. I followed your AG thread and was incredibly impressed! I have a question. One of my plants (I have 2 growing in my AG Deluxe for 2 weeks so far) has lower leaves that are badly burned due to nutes. Should I just leave them alone, or should I trim them off? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks Rival! I appreciate the feedback, but I couldn't have done it without the help of the folks on this board.

Regarding the burned parts of your plant, I would leave them alone for now. I think trimming would stress the plant further but I defer to the experts on this. Let the plant get stronger and you can trim them then if you want. The AG nutrients are nice if you don't want to worry about PH'ing the water but they will give you burned leaves. If I had it to do over again (and more $$$) I would have gotten good nutrients from the beginning and invested in a HPS lamp for the grow phase.

Lets see some pic's!

Thanks for the info, Bartleby! I'm definitely using this first AG Grow as a test and to gain intelligence, if you will. :) For my next grow, I definitely plan to buy better nutes (most likely Advanced Nutrients - Micro-Grow-Bloom). The one thing I fear is out of my 2 plants, I won't have a female. I think I may invest in some feminized seeds in the future, as well.

I gotta say, this has become an addiction. I wake up and the first thing I do is check my plants. If the AG does a good job, I may stick with it, or invest in a Stealth Hydro Bubbleponics system. I just want to keep things as clean and simple as possible.

Regarding pics of my grow, I'm not sure I should at this point. There's not much to be proud of yet. :)

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I'm attaching a few pics.

This is 2 weeks and 2 days of growth. Not sure if this is about right for the time period, since I'm totally new to this.
