UltraViolet LEDs...

LEDs are all the rave these days, so i was online seeing how much it would cost to make, and if they're a good cost-efficient supplement to my CFLs, and i stumbled across these UV LEDs:

Are these good sources for UVB?

LED's at this point are not much of a good source of anything, i tried the LED panels...not worth it at al

Not even as a source as additional lighting to (6) 42w CFLs? I'm building 4 small panels [25 high-brightness reds and 25 high-brightness blues each panel] for about $25 each. It can't hurt to have them.

But that's not the point of this thread.

Are these Ultraviolet LEDs good sources of UVB? Does anyone know?

LED's are definitely worth it, I would be on that so fast but the ones online are running 600$!!!!! How are you building these pannels, if i can my whole next grow will be entirely LEDS!!!

UV-b spectrum is in the range of 280nm - 315nm. STRIKE ONE!
280mcd is downright puny output! STRIKE TWO!
At $!.69 each, you would go broke! STRIKE THREE! You're outta there!

If you want to "back-up" ypuur lighting with UV-b - go with reptile uv-b lights. Even LED UV's that are more suitable are way too expensive!
