i use rockwool. cloning's been pretty simple. soaking stems in water seems like a waste of time and may negatively affect success rate. i've had a fairly high success rate. pH seems too low. small amount of pH down, soak cubes. rooting gel. assuming you cut at an angle, don't dig a wide/loose hole in rockwool, and stick stem in the cube within a few hours of cutting, they live. where you might lose a few is if you, like you mentioned, drown the cubes. i lightly spray them down 3 times a day to avoid flooding them at any time. conversely, i heavily spray blooming plants once a day.

another clone killer are lights that are too strong. your light bulb won't kill them, just not sure how long it would keep them going.

How long do your cubes stay damp?
That bulb will be just until I get roots. Then they can go in the veg tent under cob leds.

little 3x3x2.5" no hole cubes for clones. Under lights, I suppose they stay damp for 6-8+ hrs. But I can spray right away without hurting them. if I didn't work remotely, spraying twice a day would keep them alive; but being able to hit them 3x daily (10am, 4pm, and ~midnight) keeps them from drying out and you from drowning them at any one feeding. if the plant's thirsty and/or the cube gets harder to keep moist, I take that as my cue to put a 3x3x2.5" cube atop a 6" or 8" cube.

i suppose i let 6 and 8" cubes dry out on top a little more than I would a starter cube.

yes and the color,After soaking I make a throwing motion back into the shower,the G force sheds a little water out of them.

removed the dome last night on the rooted clones. Get them use to normal humidity. Not such a shock to them since the humidity wasn’t that high under the dome.
Filled a pail of room temp water and soaking my cubes.

Ok so like I said I ring out the cubes by doing a throwing motion and this let’s a little water out of the cubes. In the pic one on top is wrung bottom is straight out of water notice color difference992CD4C6-5110-4C4D-997A-C1580CB3E16C.jpeg

Right. So onto dipping. My clones are big so they match the hole in the cube. If they were smaller in diameter I would either cover the hole wth RW or make a new one.
So you need to pre fill the hole with rooting gel/powder I simply just double dip in the hole. Idea being that when you push the clone down theirs some hormones down at the bottom. B2DF7F60-7091-42B0-962A-04219F252C8F.jpeg

Ok so now push the clone down about 1/2” no more after you feel the bottom of the hole. Don’t push to far lol. I’ve done that before. Clone hits the tray. After you got them all in I put the dome on. No water in tray.
Now because the tray is full I’ll open the vents just a crack.
So now the big secret is don’t open the dome for the next 7 days. Leave them alone. No nothing. I’ve put my humidity meter in so we can check and see where we’re at. Good luck. Will update in a few days. C7965775-910D-4E21-91E8-2D2A7B485846.jpeg

Since your using gel. You can just push some down the hole with whatever little tool you have. Then dip and jam in.

A couple of them fell over in the water overnight thus their curled,the'll stand back up.

Also since the tray is full I didn't spray the lid.You dont need to spray nothing ever! My room sits about 40% humidity
