Am I doing the scrog net right?

First grow and someone suggested I should run a trellis netting. Just wanted to make sure I am doing it right - and that everything looks legit. I put the net on when I flipped - vegged for 5 weeks. This is day 2 of flower. If this looks ok - in a week or two am I supposed to clear the foliage that’s left under the net? Or just let it ride? I’ve defoliated two-three times throughout the veg.

Typically folks use nets with smaller square pattern, but that can work. Add a second layer above the first and they'll grow up through it and be better supported. Yes, defoliate everything under lower net after week 3, when stretch completes

Nets like this. My girls are still stretching, I'll clean up the up the scrog plants next weekend and front two will get lollipopped

Ok
The net needs to be lower
Bend /break the main branches to get them searching horizontally
I would stall on the flip a week or so
You want start weaving and bending so you will get more bud sites
As it is pictured that netting isn’t doing anything but support and that isn’t how a SCROG increases yield
Good luck keep in mind the hardest part once you truly fill a net is access to water

It seems a lot of people don't understand the concept of SCROG amd just put a net in because they see others doing it. If you just let the stems grow straight up through the net it's not SCROG.

The netting is too big and it should be level not bowed like a hammock.

You can find good examples of how to do a SCROG in this thread.

Close but needs tweaking. You could add a net or use a different one. It does need to be adjusted and I agree if you're not training the plant through the net you're wasting your time. Lst and scrog go hand in hand, keep that in mind.
Ps. You can clean up down lower but if done right the lower stuff will grow up thru the net so you might want to wait on that.

The pic in post #2 is honestly not any better. The top net could come down to train the plants to grow laterally; it's useless at the current height.

Its hard to tell what the lower net accomplished.

I guess at that point the screen is holding up the stems more than anything else. And I fully support this, even if it's by accident. I hate having to tie buds with strings all over the place so they dont fall over :).

Yea - seems I waited too long to utilize it properly - it did defiantly help spread out the stems to get better penetration in the center of the plants however. Always next time!

Isn't around 10" from the soil optimum height for the net?

Here’s some pics of me adding the net and then training into it and through it.

when adding a net the idea is to spread the plant out horizontally rather than just allow it to grow through the net which is just creating a support barrier for the plant.

This has gone a little unruly As I stopped tucking around 7-10 days into 12/12 as I wanted more height to my canopy this time which worked but came at the expense of uniformity.

This is the same plant at different stages of growth.

I've actually still been tucking - the 6" net is defiantly not optimum for doing this - I'll have to find a smaller square for next time. Lowering the net would definitely make getting a watering can in there troublesome

Mine is using a 3” net and has done 2 grows so far.

I’m also automating my feeding so I don’t have to worry so much about getting to the plant to water etc.

yes, tuck those tops under net, keep tucking everything until all squares are 70% full. Then flip. Good info in this thread

Best to start with bringing the net down as you top and veg. Weaving the plant thru the net as it grows. Using the trellis as a form of lst then after the initial stretch from flower you let them grow up. I let my plants get about 8-10 inches tall being topped once then I bring the net down to 6 inches from the soil bending the plant all kinds of ways. They’re are some real good tutorials on google and real good threads on here explaining how to properly do it and not end up with just stalk supports. I just started running a secondary net above my bottom net for my bud support. Practice makes perfect.
