Could you use an aquarium reverse osmosis filter to cover large containers?

Preferably I'd use the kit for the tap but they are too expensive. The aquarium kit are 1/5th the price and can cover up to 50 gallons a day .

I'm thinking one big 175l tote full of tap water and putting in an aquarium RO pump and filter the lot ?

50 gal a day isn't much. Home use I rock at the bare minimum of 1200gpd with a booster pump. The 50 will get you less the. 2 gallon an hour due to pressure and water temperature. At peak performance it'll get 2 gals but not anymore. The 50 you could leave going all night and sadly it would never fill a 50 gallon tank in a day. I would guess maybe 25 gal....maybe.
