Why is a weed so complicated

Endless Sky and Big Laughing were recomended by a friend, I was looking for an up-sativa so I bought BL and a mix pack for my first purchase. The Big Laughing is the best strain I've grown to date: potent, tastey, easy to grow. I'm going to get Endless Sky on one of my purchases, the 6 week flowering time and as-or-more-potent than White Widow is a big drawing card. The strain come highly recomended and the breeder is first rate and reliable. A bit pricey but if you don't mind spending a little extra sounds like a nice pick.

From the equipment list in your prior post you don't sound like a first time grower, are you just getting back into it?

Yeah the potency thing sounds a little off. I'm hoping this strain will hold a decent kick, give me little to no problems and produce a decent amount to pay back the investment. After that a year or so I want to switch the strain to something challenging and rewarding. The amount it produces wont matter. I've been on a forum a few years ago, and put about 3 months of dreaming into it (which of course was all wrong now that I look back at it). Now I'm in a better situation at the end of this year and I know what I want to do. Just little things that only experience can answer is basically what I'm trying to avoid ahead of time. My old man was the guy who parked in the back of the parking lot to avoid a ding or scratch in his truck. Bring a jerry can on a 3 hour drive... He sort of embedded that in my head and I am a bit of an over thinker sometimes. Dive in with my feet kind of guy. If I had the program I would have designed my virtual room already. We should go in on those seeds and get a deal lol. God damn "tomatoes" are expensive

Hobbes, you mentioned Mix Pack. I've thought about buying one of those but I envisioned a bag of mixed seeds. Can you explain a little about your experience with mix packs? Thanks.

The mix pack from PeakBC is a mixture of all of their strains, except BB and Texada which are out of. I emailed them and I believe they said that if they're not sure what strain a seed is they chuck it in a bucket and it goes to a mix pack - just as good seeds as if buying a regular pack. You might get a plant worth keeping as a mother for each of their strains. I germed 5 of the 20 seeds I got for $30 CAD and all popped the soil in less than 3 days, 4 were female and all are healthy and growing great.

Dr Greenthumb's mixed packs are regular packs of seeds that weren't labeled so you get a regular pack of something very good for a fraction of it's retail price. All the same strain. You just don't know what it is.

I only buy from well reviewed breeders now, any mixed pack from them should be top knotch - no one who cares about their reputation is going to package shit seeds just to make a few extra bucks.

I buy a mix pack from each company I buy a strain from, if it's available. So cheap and it's great to wonder what strains you might be growing while another strain you really wanted is growing beside them. It's like Christmas every day!

Do you find you have trouble growing multiple strains? Is it for someone with more experience to mix strains? or do they use the same neuts and strengths?

My Mom has a bit of a green thumb. I asked her one day what the secret was. She said that if a plant is not happy, she'll move it somewhere else OR kill it. She doesn't put up with picky plants. They either get happy or get gone.

The lesson I'll take from that is: at least one of those girls will thrive and love life in my room. The picky ones will get snatched up like they was boys!

I haven't got that inventive yet, when I'm germing the seeds I label the mother and clones: GTM1 (Greenthumb Mix 1), GTM2 or PM1, etc. I keep a clone of every plant and chuck the males after sexing the mother - I've got 5 mothers of unknown strains flowering now, if any of them are good enough to keep I'll have to get some name other than the codes.

I haven't found it too hard, though I'm definitely not getting everything the plant would give to a one or two strain dedicated grower. I'm looking for strains to treat depression, bi polar disorder and arthritis so I'm going through a few strains looking for the right mix of 3 or 4 strains I'll keep mothers for.

I've got Blueberry, Strawberry Cough, Skunkberry, Big Laughing, an unknown strain from Dr Greenthumb and 4 plants from Peakbc that I think will be 3 plants of 1 strain and 1 plant of a second strain, and one last run of 1 clone each of Northern Lights, AK and an unknown strain from a breeder I won't be using again. So I believe I have 10 strains flowering in a 4 1/2 foot x 4 1/2 foot grow area (8 x 4 cola mothers in B'Cuzz, 7 clones in aero, 5 clones in DWC - single cola).

My next order is going to be to Pick n Mix for: Kali Mist, Arjan's Haze #3, Cheese, Origional Flo, Trainwreck, White Widow, and finally Jack Flash just for the fun. All for around $120, can't beat the deal.

Different nute stregnths for each, I'm going particularly light on the BB. It's not too tough to get some decent bud but specializing in a few strains is definitely the way to learn to grow kick ass bud.

I'd definitely go with atleast 2 strains of differing highs/stones.

I'm looking for strains to treat depression, bi polar disorder and arthritis

I suffer from Bi polar disorder and tried this strain and found it effective : Mandala's Satori "Satori shows her therapeutic potential in relieving depression and anxiety; this strain can ease sleep disorders from auto-immune diseases and Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS)." (mostly Sativa)
I bought TGA Subcool's Pandora's Box for the same reason but haven't grown it yet. Their Jilly Beans I have, and it lived up to all it's claims including mood elevation so I'm sure it was no over exaggeration.

AFAIK Satori is sold out worldwide till next year. Pandora's box you can get at Hemp Depot or cheaper but a big hassle on Bidzbay along with Jilly Beans (sometimes)

The 5 gallon bucket to grow in and trays to catch the water that'll seep through the holes you drill in the bottom of the bucket.

Unless you're going with lots of small plants a large bucket is great for root growth and to cut down on the frequency of watering. 5 gallon bucket are common at most hydro stores and take up no more floor space than a 3 gallon bucket.

Folks on here will grow in 2 gallon pots and may get a bigger yield than I can in a 5, but the larger the root ball the more the plant can be fed.

Yeah, just use what you have around to start with. My first grow I had 12 x 6'-8' bag seed sativas in 1 and 2 gallon pots, grew some of the best weed I've ever had. Just make sure the buckets don't let any light through to damage root growth.

I'm moving my thread to room and design. Most of my questions are in the build and design. I have read so many journals and I hope that I'll beat 3 quarters of the problems out by being prepared ahead of time. And being so in control of my grow area. It's time to figure out the design. Thanks for all the help!! Strains will be most probable Widow, unless a clone or a last minute change comes up, and Endless sky for sure. Lets all hope that it's what it is cracked up to be. I hope you guys follow along as i will post my journy. Can't wait to get a couple grows in so I can switch to a serious long flowering cup winner with a bit of confidence. So anyone who wants to help or spectate, your welcome to come along. I'm going with sealed, 2 lights, a/c, de-h20, soil beds, carbon filter(s), Co2, and looks like i'll be linking it all up to a harvest master. I'm gonna build some sort of auto watering line as well. I have back surgery coming up in the summer so I'm hoping the auto watering and controller take care of most of it. Until then its perks and smoke to keep me going.
