Build a soil 3.0 artesian blend grow. Day 2 of 12/12

And I just hosed them down 3 days ago with Lost Coast Plant Therapy for mold and bug prevention. Going to continue weekly. And my dehumidifier came in for the evenings when humidity kinda creeps up in my house. Tent hits 70 % at night so I got 2 vivosun mini dehumidifiers for the task.

Update on the vivosun mini dehumidifier working wonders for humidity in my tent during lights out. I was watching when the lights came on and opened window soon as they came on. My humidity kept in the mid 50’s for lights out which has been in the high 60’s to low 70’s at night. We shall see if it was just a fluke or if it will maintain that from now on. I had just watered also which makes it worse usually but I pumped with having mid 50’s RH.

Day 34 and the ones in the 15 gallon pots are showing signs of starvation. Leaves are all lightening up in color across all the plant. Signs of potassium deficiency and phosphorus deficiency. 25 gallon pot is doing very well. No signs of deficiencies or color lightening on leaves but it also seems to be a week or two behind these other plants. It didn’t produce bud sites as quickly as the others.

Nice move with the mulch too, you have to keep the top few inches of soil hydrated to care to the microbes. I used to have a 3" cocoa bean hull mulch layer. That was to propagate several subspecies of Trichoderma and to initiate the decomposition and release of all that Carbon and mild NPK. Did one crop like that and then mix it all in. Now I'm back to cypress mulch.

Yeah for sure. If that top layer of soil gets dry then it defeats a lot of the microbe inoculation products. I just use cedar wood chips but was looking into changing that for next round to a mulch that will add to my soil rather than just cedar wood chips for moisture retention.

I love the smell of cedar!!! And honestly any form of mulch is better than no mulch.
I run 4x8 fabric beds 18"deep, and for me to not have a mulch layer is just silly. That's alot of surface area to dry out. Plus I have worms in my beds and dry soil doesn't bring them to the surface to feed on the scrap piles I leave. Although, I just stumbled upon a thread a few days ago in regards to worm towers. I already made 4 of them.

Yeah it starts to make the soil hydrophobic real fast without a mulch layer of some sort. If soil on top is too dry it is a shit show trying to water correctly till top layer is wet again! I’m currently saving for a nice big 16x 20 shed I’m gonna move my grow too and finish out a couple rooms for growing. Gonna get myself some worm towers also as I was looking into that already lol. I’m working my way to all organic growing. May still do a few with nutrients but organic is funner to me.

Funner for sure! And I feel personally that it was the spark for me to educate myself in the science of it. A bottle of nutrient tells you what to do and when to do it. A person knows nothing about plant biology, but only 4ml/L. There's a reason why organics work.

Worm tower shit looks super cool and compact. Depending on how the cap is made can almost eliminate all pest insect. All that extra room for the worms to move around in makes happy worms. Happy worms breed and before long population counts are ridiculous.

Yeah I’m gonna dig into that for sure. Making mushroom compost doesn’t seem too difficult either. My brother-in-law was wanting to set up a small room for mushroom growing also

Not a bad idea. It depends on what type of mushroom grown that will dictate the value of the spent substrate. Either hard wood or manure of which can come from a wide variety of sources will be the main benefits. The grain used to make spawn will vary but I've had luck with rye berries and spelt, but some use popcorn or wild bird seed. This all adds to some NPK but very minimally, by the time it would hit your garden the nutrients would be almost spent from the multiple flushes of fruit body. However with that said, ALL compost is a good thing. And purposing a waste product from one hobby to enrich another is smart!

Yeah after I get my composting bens done and worm farm setup I’m gonna look into what it would take to get that going and see what type of benefits from each type of mushroom grown to help the cannabis grow. I know BAS has their mushroom logs to help with soil environment during grows. I just haven’t got the setup yet to really give them the proper environment yet. That will come when I get my rooms set up and not tents in my house. I am an HVAC controls tech and I’m currently working on a very big and state of the art grow house. I’ll be able to have my whole setup going in about 6-9 months. Definitely by next winter.

I use to grow for profit, for the last 10 years it's all personal. I still have vacuumed sealed 1/2lb bags from 2 yrs ago. I like to have a variety of flower and hash.

I just want to grow for personal. I work on grow house lighting and HVAC controls. I am wanting to grow more than just cannabis. Gonna have a third room for fruits and vegetables. Wife loves the thought of gardening all year round and fresh produce from the house in winter. I just get sick of paying the price for decent smoke. Figured I’d just grow my own. Investment price in a bit much but a few crops and It will pay for itself.

The wife and I are big on eating healthy and when winter roles around produce prices jump and some things aren't even available in store regularly.
The plan was to have the IBC tanks in the basement of the house and run the delivery and return pipes underground far below the frost line so winter cold wouldn't affect the water temps. We want to farm fish, prawn and crayfish.

Yeah I hear ya on the expense of smoke. I used to sell 1lb for 1800 and then these idiots are turning around and making 6k off of 1 lb. It's terrible what the black market has done to the cost of cannabis.

Yeah that would be a lot of fun doing that for sure. The fish and crayfish is a bit out of my abilities for a while lol but the aquaponics for lettuce, kale, celery and such is what we are wanting to do. I had my wife find some good heir loom seed companies to get the fruits and vegetable seeds from. My house is full of girls that eat tons of strawberries, oranges, avocados, and all the expensive produce items lol. I already have my lemon tree going. Working on the rest but need more room first!!

In the last 3 years Oklahoma has made its self a cannabis farming mad house. So many pot farms off the highways and filling commercial buildings everywhere. It’s crazy the amount of pot that is grown here in such a short time since it’s legalization.
