hey everyone just another stoner with a few hot beans wanting to sprout but i got a few questions

how risky is it? with landlords stoppin by and shit? and in big unit buildings...does it stink them up? do u have to be very safe? i guess its mostly during flower for the stink
im thinking about buying a ballast and a 1000W hps for about 10 plants in a large closet grow
ive done outdoor but it would be my first indoor so im all ears to help

my landlord never stops in, if he has to come over he gives 24 hours notice. plus i got my shit pretty stealthed..

make a stealth cab.. vent that shit through carbon filters..

i dunno how bad your landlord is..

yeah, as long as its not out in the open and the smell is taken care of you should be okay. The only thing youd need worry about is maintenance and shit, people coming by to check firealarms and shit.

My tip 2 u keep it in the closets, and alwayz be there when there is a "unit inspection" or repair and if ur apartment allows dogz get one and if ur going with hps do not exceed over 400 watts. I personally been growing in my apartment for years with a 250 hps in the patio closet.

Its a good idea to get a dog like that other guy said.. Have one that barks/growls when someone knocks on the door.
I have a pure white, american pitbull , she is the BIGGEST BABY in the world, seriously, would not hurt a fly, but they dont know that.. and when someone knocks on the door, or tries to enter, the sounds she makes, man u WOULD NOT want to come in alone with out me there. lol
Its a good idea to "put her away" in the room ur closet is in, when people come over. But really, ur not actually putting her away , ur just having it so no ones gonna enter that room.

Im in a big apt. Dude if you dont enclose a box and get a carbon filter setup I think you'll have problems. You do not want the smell at the door in the event someone does show up. I built a 4x4x6.5' box, lined it with plastic and mylar, got some ducting, air cool hood, blower and carbon filter. Im glad that all I have to do is close my back room door and not worry about it if the maintenance man comes by. If my landlord comes by to inspect, I don't know what ill do, probably lock the door and tell my roommate to take off for a day, claim I don't have a key for the lock etc.

Also it helps to live in an apt with submetered electricity. Im running 1000 watts and plan on running around 2000 next time. My electricity is divided amongst all units, so its pretty sweet, they only have 1 electric meter for the whole place.

use a 600 or 400w water cooled sytem with ditigal ballast. ( 1000w a little too much electric draw 4 apt . 1000 wwould be like 3 apt air conditisoner running 24 hour a day in ur apt. also ur got all the other stuff drawing electricity) then put a window air conditioner in window. a few fans and go. Hardly any noise. low room temp. you gain growing spce becuz ur palnts can get within inches of ligth w/o burning (gain about 15 inches of grow area) carbon filtered ventilation take care of smell and air borne crap

hmm dont think so.. i run 2400w in my 2 bedroom.. they have inspections n such, and i lock the door and tell em roomie is gone.. what are they gonna do? they aint gonna get a locksmith to check out a smoke alarm.. and especially in a big place with a lot of beaurocracy.. you can hold em off long enough

thx for all the advice guys, is it hard to make an air cooled vent for your light? if not i might go with a 600 or 1000W cooled...
OR could i just put in a 400W and not have to worry about cooling it, it would stay at low enough temps?

I think im gonna make a DIY carbon filter and have 2 or 3 fans running...

as im searching for an apartment im looking for the biggest closets haha my friends have a 3 feet deep x 10 feet high x 7-8 feet wide, im looking for something like that for a good 8-10 plants

In Los Angeles county they do mandatory smoke alarm inspections, so make sure you're able to handle that because they may do it in your county too.

and GrowTech, do u think i could put a 400W hps into a closet without it overheating? id be lowering the room temp for sure.
sidenote- its winter up here and cold as shit outside if that would help with heating/overheating at all

just lock the bedroom door and hide your roomate in there say he isnt home and the doors locked thats worked for me with the smelll thing a lot off peoples apartments smell like pot at least all my friends do hear in sd try and get your medi card so if they try and fuck with u cuz the smell u can throw ur medicard in there face mtha fuckas need to my there own and let us peacful stoners be good luck may jah be with u

Just finished a grow in my apt. I had 4 plants under a 600w HPS in my bathroom without any kind of grow box or anything. Landlord stopped by for inspection once and I just locked my bedroom door and said my room mate was gone. It was pretty shady though in the last 3 weeks of flowering my hallway and staircase started to smell, since I had no kind of carbon filter, the only thing taking air out of the bathroom was the exhaust fan in the bathroom. I just came back home for thanksgiving and my roommate informed that the maintenance guy left a note on the door complaining about the smell, good thing I brought everything home. So it's up to you, I wouldn't grow in an apt again without a carbon filter

I was thinking more about the electric company seeing a huge spike in electricity. And now with the "smart meters" being installed they will be able to beter track ur wattage use. In fact you will be to go online and see real time electric use, get graphs of your wattage use and shit
