I can't agree with extreme Defoliation, but thinning the plants out, removing all the thin stretched shoots, you only want one main shoot every 6-12".
If you the rootmass is feeding 100 shoots( 2ftx2ft plant) there not going to grow large, they have not got the room or water/food and most the canopy will be stems not buds, if you grow 8 main shoots in a 2ft x 2ft, give them lots of space the shoots can grow 4" thick
Each shoot is receiving 10x more water, food, light and has the space to grow.

Removing a few fan leaves in flower can really help if the canopy is too think, fan leaves need space, light and airflow to prevent mold.
I've come to the conclusion that schwazzing creates nice colas, but you have to up your plant count to compensate for the lack of side branches. It's similar to running a SOG.

I personally do a 2 node strip. Hope it goes well so we can see for real what is better.

pre flower this is exactly what i do, 2 nodes 2 leaves...in flower its more conditional to what the finale prodcut will end up like, small airy nugs removed, tight moldy nugs removed, shitty branches and nodes removed, along with a large amount of leaf. only leaving the upper cannopy. with as much light as i have i dont need to worry about penetration. i will turn the lights down after to limit any stress for a 24hr peroid

at days 7-10, 14-17, 21-24. and if plants are growing to fast i top them so the smaller, less vigorous plants can catch up. i only need 2ft tall plants within a 28 day veg peroid.

Mee too. I'd love to see a big study looking at various defoliation methods vs. control. I keep an eye out for them, but there have been no defoliation studies in cannabis, just adamant people on both sides. I love when people do small side by side grows too though.
Their is a litany of information for fruiting/flowering plants that somehow , possibly because of plant biology, trends to most if not all fruiting/flowering plants...

Growth control through biotic and abiotic methods is pretty well known.

This idea , casually behind any cannabis specific information, that cannabis is a plant all by itself in its growth characteristics is Bro sicence...

It's a plant...a fruiting flowering plant...like many others

You edited out the massive colas part. Laugh emoji retracted

We know them grinders ain’t binding up. And the cats aren’t dumb enough to go outside currently.
My buds are definitely not massive this grow. They are just nicely sized and dense. I scrogged them out too long to make up for the lack of side branches along with the males I pulled, so most didn't get much of a vertical stack.

The edit was me deleting a doubled up message because I left the page before posting my reply and then came back.

Not bad, but I don't know if I would consider that massive.

you have a stem with some buds, maybe 14" long, looking at your hand no thicker than 2" and the top bud might be 6" long, it's not bad buts not great.
