Athena Pro Series Anyone?

Athena pro works just fine at constant feeding anywhere from 1.6 to 1.8 ec. It all depends on the strain. i only used two of the three bags of Athena. Jacks works fine as well as front row ag which I’m using currently in three rooms totally 566 plants three different strains all taking feed completely different.
Have you ran Floraflex? What would you say is the most acidic dry fert you've used? I see Athena is recommending 3 EC veg through flower, I don't like going above 2.2 EC with constant feed on the genetics I have even when the plants are real big..

Yeah it’s going on day 3 of no reply. But I’ll try their IG and wait another two days. Jacks responded the next day and I’m gonna do a tap water analysis with them. If Athena responds within two days I’ll listen. If they don’t then I’ll order jacks. My new seeds come in this week and I wanna start this next batch from seed using one line. I don’t wanna wait to order my nutes and keep using canna (what I’m using now) and then switch to jack or Athena partway thru
You may wanna look into FloraFlex too.

Jacks is awesome also. You probably wouldn’t notice much of a difference. The only difference I have noticed is that I can run a higher Ec with Athena and the salt buildup is pretty negligible

I actually ran Athena at 2 EC with soil my last run and all of my leaves were messed up, deficiency’s and they barely grew. It was the worst harvest I’ve had. They just weren’t getting enough nutrients…maybe it’s my strain but I did 3 EC this time with coco tho and night and day difference.

Do you feed every watering at that amount. Everything I run I've never had to go that high. No matter if it was soil, coco or growdan

Yes never went anywhere near how high they wanted it to go either. I run soil for the most part so I never check ph anymore however when I ran it in coco it came out right at 5.9 at 1.8 ec so I let it right. In hydro I try to keep it right at 6ph anyway but I never run hydro anymore.

Soil just has so many variables that it’s hard to pinpoint what causes issues with a nutrient line when using it. Like it could’ve just been bad soil or the nutrient content of the soil just wasn’t matching with the Athena feed schedule then you have to figure out what to adjust.

which would mean getting a full soil analysis and then calculating your feed percentages based on that which is just too much to do lol.

That’s why i switched to coco and never looked back. Cleaner, more efficient, stable and what you put in is what you get out, I haven’t had a single Deficiency since running coco. Only way I’d ever run soil is to be organic and even then you can do that with coco and have way better results like Canucks

It almost makes me feel like you're not getting that huge of a value then, did you ever do a cost analysis on it per/gallon? If you need enough powder to make 3 EC how much money are you really saving over a bottled nutrient that requires 1.8 EC for healthy plants?

It cost me 80 cents per plant over two complete grow cycles. it also depends on the amount of plants you run Too. For me it comes out very cost effective and get a better more rounded product. The vast difference is the lack of sulphates in the powder. Take heavy 16 for example over the entire line you get less then whats in one part of most powdered nutrients. Given sulphur is a huge benefit in terps it’s of importance to me especially when it comes to testing time. I dont chance thc numbers they generally come with terps. also remember when you’re buying bottled nutrients all you’re really getting is fancy water.

I plan to start running the Floraflex Bulky B as a bloom booster from now on. They threw Sulfur into it and a few other things. It's a little more fancy pants than their Full Tilt PK booster.

Yea I did every watering. Idk Athena says their nutrients are meant to be run at a higher EC.

I 100% agree with you. It could’ve been the soil nutrients not mixing well with Athena or something else. I switched to coco and I LOVE it they literally grow 2x faster then soil.

Btw my stuff is almost dried. I trimmed 2 plants today the buds look amazing. Can’t wait to test out the smoke. I’ll update in here. I think I might get 2.2-2.3 lb per light based on what I’m seeing. Gonna be my best harvest I’m so excited!

Well it looks like I’m going with jacks. As much as I wanted to run Athena they have just not responded to me at all. This entire week I’ve sent emails and even DMed them and all. I can’t rock with that kinda customer service because what if I had a plant emergency. And it’s kinda important because I need to know if there’s anything special with running tap with Athena or not and I can’t find info on anyone doing so.

I guess they said F me since I’m a small grower. It’s funny because they said they reply within 2 business days.

on the other hand jacks is already being super helpful and I just mailed off my water sample to them for analysis. Once they do that they’re gonna put together a feed schedule for me based on my tap water content.

maybe I’ll do a few runs with jacks and see how it goes and then switch to Athena for comparison in a year or so.

my seeds get here tomorrow so I gotta pop them in some coco and order jacks as soon as they test the water lol. I should have a good week two or so before I really need to feed them like that.

Damn yea they are slow at replying. I use tap water with a Tall boy dechlorinator and sediment system and my EC comes at 0.5 so I just lower my feed by 0.5 and it’s perfect. But yea man I hear good stuff about jacks go for it.

What are you going to feed them after they sprout if the Jack's hasn't arrived?

I got some canna left over. I was gonna use that on my current crop until I ran out and then switch everything to jacks. But I wanted to start the new crop with jacks from the get go
If you want to start the new crop with Jack's from the get go, you're going to need to feed them from sprout.
