Defoliation questions

True, but i'm concerned about the size of my fruits.. not the leaves ;)
Here's something I 'm figuring out for myself, I'm growing photo and have yet to try auto, Trimming for air flow and trimming for flowers can be two separate things. If you trim for flower that in itself could automatically take care of the air flow thing..... "could". And it's an art form. You can grow a couple dozen little bud sites or you can grow half dozen corn cobs... all in the trimming. The trimming dictates where this energy goes. My two cents and I only grow on the weekends. :)

Pruning isn't really defoliation, but I'm on the fence with this. I heavily pruned this grow, and noticed that a few side branches that I left alone produced buds that were the same size as the main colas. I have really no larf, but I'm wondering how many nice buds lost from writing off the branch.

On the other hand I've had overgrown plants that only produced tons of little buds. So I think there is a balance, but I'm not exactly sure where the line is.
