Leaves yellowing from buds out...WTF?

Hello fellow growers. Yes, yet another post about leaf discoloration

So, I'm growing four autos, all different strains (CBD Crack, OG Kush, Sour Diesel, and Tangerine Dream) in a 3x3 grow tent. I'm growing in 100% Foxfarm Coco Loco (no time to mix my own super soil), and using cheap-o 200W LEDs for lighting (EnFun EF-2000). To be honest, those lights actually kick ass in my little grow tent - this is my third grow using them and to be honest they might throw off too much light. Anywho, the lights are on a 19on/5off schedule and the ballast is set at 75%. The lights are about 18" above the highest part of the canopy. I'm using TaNgs easy grown schedule pretty much exactly as listed here, except I add silica at around 1ml per liter of water:

Heres a nice easy feeding schedule with very few ingredients that can grow big plants...... all you will need is a good light soil mix,I've developed this with Plagron Light so that's what I would suggest, a reasonable water supply, mine is PH7.4 and EC 0.4 most tap water will be around this...

Again, this is my third grow with this particular set-up and it's pretty well dialed in. All four plants have been developing at about the same rate and they seem happy, except the Tangerine Dream is doing, something? It's day 46 of the grow, so about two or three weeks into flower. As the Tangerine Dream transitioned into pre-flower the inner parts of the leaves around the buds began tuning yellow. Like, bright yellow. The tips are also showing some yellowing. This is the only plant with this issue. I increased the base nutrients from 2ml to 2.5ml per liter roughly a week ago thinking it may have been an N deficiency. The issue persisted and my have even gotten a little worse. Beside, N deficiency usually starts at the bottom, not the top, right? Take a look at the below and let me know your thoughts.

Don't be a clown. Your avater has more yellow plants than this guys and he's already in flower. This little bit of yellow on one plant, in small isolated areas will not harm the plant with the time it has to go. He's not a commercial grower, so it doesn't need to look perfect. Go away.

Soil or coco? We need more details... ph?

To me it looks like they are overfed.... but lighter colour green is also normal at start of flower on the new growth... so I don't think you have a BIG problem

Thanks for all the replies. Much appreciated! As someone said, I'm not a commercial grower. This is just a hobby and these plants are for personal use. I have less than a dozen grows under my belt, and this is my first Tangerine Dream grow. I know the plants are less forgiving once they transition into flower, so if something was off I wanted to try and correct it sooner than later. But from the replies it sounds like this yellowing around the buds/new growth shouldn't be a cause for panic. Maybe it's a characteristic of this strain? I haven't found too many good grow journals featuring this strain. But since the buds closest AND farthest away from the light show the yellowing, I'm guessing it's not light stress?

Iron deficiency sounds like a possibility, though I'm using tap water which I would assume has some iron in it. Not to mention the nutes themselves. That said, how would I address the iron deficiency at this stage in the grow?

Oill, I'm growing in CocoLoco which has coco coir as a component, but behaves more like soil. I haven't been ph'ing my water. Like I said, I'm using tap water and Sensi Bloom which is supposed to "stabilize" the ph of the water. I'm sure that's mostly marketing, but I've had decent results with this in prior grows. And the other three plants in the current grow seem happy. I water about every third day until I get runoff. The plants are in three gallon fabric pots. Nutes are added with every watering.

Since they are autos I don't want to stress them out since their short lives give little time to correct mistakes. So no topping or major defoliation, just LST. All the same, nobody wants to put 70+ days into a plant only to get popcorn buds cause they didn't address an issue early enough!

Honestly they are not even an issue, but with coco and led, you usually do need more cal/mag than what comes in the grows and blooms. I usually go 2ml per gal, but some go as high as 5ml(i don't care one bit about slight burns and shit), so they are most likley trying to be as perfect as they can.

Your lights are too intense/close for that plant. This is why I encourage growers to look into Photoperiod plants because you can clone them and they grow the same speed from clone as an auto but you can fine tune it and actually keep a plant that not only fits your grow but that you enjoyed smoking and growing. Autoflower is russian roulette you never know what you're gunna get from seed.

I bet if you dim the lights just for 3 days you will see that plant recover.

No. If you read my post, I never said it was an issue, I never said they had to be perfect and never expected him to uphold commercial quality plants. I simply stated that it's noticeable, and if you can't see it you might be blind.

Words in others mouths much? Sure made a lot of assumptions over a 16 word post.

Iron, easy fix, probably not really a problem if ya don’t, but just foliar feed some iron(souther ag chelated iron is super cheap) if you’re worried.

Thanks again for all the replies! I think the problem is slowly trying to correct itself. The day of my initial post I raised the lights about 6 inches, maybe less. Not sure if that has anything to do with it, but the Tangerine Dream doesn't look quite as yellow.

Going forward I'll add a little more Cal-Mag to the mix. I forgot to mention I've been adding about 2ml per gallon, so I'll up that to about 4ml. Like you said MattyMatt, they don't need to look perfect. I just don't want to do anything that would seriously reduce the final yield.

And thanks for the foliar feed tip Lenin1917, I'll look into getting that southern ag stuff. Is that something that needs to be sprayed during lights on, off, or does it matter?

i figured that out real quick trying to run autos on 18/6 with a 1000w hps in a 4x4, within days of dropping down to 600w at 16/8 they were good. Even with photos there can be different levels of light sensitivity. I’ve had strains I can run at 1000ppfd from mid veg on and some that freak out over 500ppfd in veg.(actually have them both in the same tent rn, took a minute to figure it out)

You could try watering or foliar feeding with Epsom salts which would correct it if its sulfur, but i think you have a PH problem. It's just so unlikely to have deficiency of these micronutrients. Nutrient lockout due to out of range PH is more common and since you said your relying on the "stabilizing" claim of the nutrients and not pH adjusting your water, thats where id put my money.

iron deficiency is actually pretty common with soilless media, agree about testing inputs though, you don’t have to do it every time At least not if you’re feeding the same, but when you add something new or take something away your ph is gonna change.

the only grow method that generally doesn’t require ph adjustments is organic in soil(top dressing and teas) and even then you should check your water or at least look at your municipal water report.

I'm feeding all four plants the same nute mix and on the same schedule. The schedule is fine for all of them, but the Tangerine Dream seems to be a heavier feeder than the rest. I gradually increased the nute concentration until I started to see slight burn at the very tip of fan leaves. That happened on all the plants accept the Tangerine Dream. That said, since my last post the yellowing issue on the Tangerine Dream completely went away. Maybe a combo of getting further into flower, and increasing the nutes? It's also about a week or so behind the other plants. Seems these may all be characteristics of this strain. All good to know for the next grow. And I'll be sure to PH my water next go round.

Here's a pic of the Tangerine Dream. I think it's about a week away from starting flush. Any thoughts? BTW, all the plants are on day 66 from germ.

Flush? First the plants aren't even close to ready. They probably have at least another 5 weeks to go. Second don't flush. Flushing does nothing but starve the plants while they are trying to bulk up and finish.
