Should I let cops know?

I have my medical marijuana card here in southern California and am about to start growing the 6 plants that I'm allowed. Should I let local authorities know im growing so i dont get raided because they dont know I'm legal? Maybe a stupid question but if its legal it just seems easier to be up front. Trust me i dont want to let them know only if it will be benificial to me to do so. Thx for any advice! Hopefully this thread will help others, i havent been able to find any good answers on the net when it comes to that question.

this is where i get tripped up with the law. so its kind of like the military and their "we wont ask and you dont tell policy" unless if i dont get caught im in the clear just like if it wasnt legal but if i do i have a chance of not getting in trouble long as they feel my migrains arent good enough to have been prescribed medical bud? im in riverside county , california i have my own business and two young kids part time i dont want any of that to be ruined and if im going into this blind i want to know if i stand losing a lot even with my card!

If anyone could please simplify the law for my area and what i could expect if caught "not selling just growing for personal use" im really growing for me and want extra to be donated to hiv/aids patients use, my brother died 3 years ago of aids and i could use the help in letting me know where to go locally to donate would be great! i only want places that give the medicine free not the "donation" needed to deliver places you know what i mean.

Check NORML's site for your local laws, but dont tell the cops you're growing, they'll turn it into a federal thing and you'll get raided anyways pretty much. You can also find the nearest dispensary to you through NORML's site and contact them and see what their policy is on donations and helping out others in need .

Good luck, but definitely dont tell the cops you're growing unless they show up and find something, you'd just make yourself an easy target.

Also, im pretty sure riverside is pretty lax about bud, least they were when i got pulled over lol

riverside county is good even when it wasnt legal cops would just make me throw my bud away or at least the 2x caught driving with less than an ounce they did and friends have the same story but cultivating it was a felony and is a felony if not covered under prop 215 so im still looking for more info,maybe someone who was caught growing legal amount what happened? did they drop it? spend time in jail? loss of visitation with children? like i said i dont want to start growing blind need to know if i stay within prop 215 laws will i be ok i have a chance to save money and help aids patients' but imprisonment and loss of my kids and my business is not worth it so my question is Can that happen?

Assuming that you have a letter from your doctor stating that he has authorized you to use marijuana for medical purposes, state law MANDATES that your local police MUST ... I repeat, MUST allow you to grow AT LEAST six mature flowering plants, TWELVE immature plants (clones), and be in possession of AT LEAST eight ounces of manicured bud. These are minimum amounts set by state law. Each county sets it's own guidelines, BUT MUST allow the minimums set by state law ... SB 420.

Make copies of your doctor's letter. Put the original in your safe. Staple a copy to the inside of the door of your grow cabinet. Put another copy in the glove compartment of your car. You are allowed to transport your medicine, but you'll need proof of your medical necessity. The letter is your proof.


And hell no, you shouldn't go to the police to inform on yourself. Wadda-ya, nutz?

as far as i read if you tell the cops your growing you go into the system and since the federal government has access that would mean they could bust you anyways since your medical is only state given not federally given, you could lose your hose car ect. Or have things changed for you guys?

the whole medical thing seems kinda crazy to me right now. its like the state and doctors are telling you "hey yea its ok to grow behind the feds back, fuck the feds, just dont let them know" which is the same way i feel about it but there needs to be something that protects the med people totally from any kind of punishment just for growing there medicine.

I think everyone here has stated it well, don't say anything to the cops unless they show up at your door. By contacting them you're opening yourself up to federal harassment.

if this occurs then the courts would have to go after the prescriber. and it is at the prescribers discretion wether or not to prescribe. the police cant decide whether or not you are in need of med mj. they are not doctors.

they could get a second opinion about whether or not you should be prescribed but if you arent supposed to be prescribed then your doctor will get in trouble for prescribing it to you. the only way youll get in trouble is if the feds figure you out. cuz its still federally illegal. your local govt prolly will follow the "wont ask, dont tell" "rule"

There is no "prescription" for medical marijuana. It is rather "recommended". Sorry to be so technical but just wanted to throw it out there since I've talked to a doctor and that's exactly what he told me.

in canada the federal government sends you a card at it states how much you can grow and have at a time. the problem comes when dealing with the hydro guys your set up has to pss inspection and they are fucking dicks they want you to spend a ton of money if you live in an older home without sprinkler systems.

Yeah the DEA recognizes it as illegal because the medical marijuana growing is a state law but it is still illegal federaly.

as long as you have a card you will be fine...dont go calling them putting them in your business, if they want to talk to you about something they will come looking for you..other than that stay away from the COPS...oh yea WHY DO you want the COPS TO KNOW THAT YOU ARE A MMJ PATIENT, did they diagnose you for the med card?????thats none of there fucking business unless the old lady next door somehow caught a contact off the smell of your growing plants...

Hell I don't even tell my friends I grow.. Fuck the cops never ever breath a word to those cats they will screw with your whole world all in the name of MONEY you can generate for there coffers.. Like having your kids live with you? That will be the first to go then your house, cars, toys, ect.. ect
