Topping just before flipping? SCROG

I ran into problems this time around. Lost 2 of my 4. Because of that I let these 2 veg longer than planned. They are still looking healthy. On the one that had some yellowing all of the new growth is coming in green.
After I did my tie down tonight I have a lot of growth in the center that's got no where to go and is too tall. My thoughts are that I can cut them back to just a couple of nodes before I flip. I am thinking cut tomorrow and make the flip in one week.
Since I've never done this before I just thought I'd see if anyone else had done this and if so how did that work out for you? Or if anyone can give reasons for or against this chime in.

A screen with smaller squares is better for tucking those branches early on. It looks like you let them grow too tall before tucking them under your screen. You may want to think about adding a second screen. You would most likely be fine to top those tall ones in the center before flipping, I would give at least 3 days after topping before flipping. For a true scrog 2 inch squares or 3 inch squares are much better. Nice healthy looking plant tho man, nice work.

I get what you are saying about smaller squares but I don't weave like most do. I simply bend and tie to the net with wire twist ties. I was still thinking of cutting my square size in half next time.
That’s more lst than scrog but there’s no one right way to grow cannabis that’s the amazing thing. Here is my scrog with 2 inch squares, nice and even canopy.

how old are the girls?? They are stunning
As I said in the op I had something go bad with 2 so they have been in veg for an extra 3 weeks now (partly to take up some of the extra space and partly to make sure that these 2 were going to make it). They were rooted around Dec 1 so 12 weeks or so. Had I not lost the other 2 I would have flipped 3 weeks ago.

Really nice looking plants man! Have you thought about trying mainlining? I bet you would do well at it, I use to do it before giving scrog a try.
I tried mainline once, did pretty good but not quite as good as I have been doing since I started my lst to the scrog net.

Well, will still have a little work to do on top but they look more manageable. Decided my best route was to cut the smaller branches out to make room to bend as many of those larger branches into the net as possible.
Now to clean up anything under the net then start working on air flow before I flip. 20220220_185554.jpg20220221_213510.jpg20220220_185414.jpg20220222_003030.jpg
