this coco run i broke down (i'm a cheap m'fer lol) and bought floraflex coco instead of shitty bricks that were dirt cheap.

instead of perlite, i'm using about 30% growstones/hydroton mix since i have a shit load laying around

That’s the one thing I worry about in my hid tent. I’ve got a fire extinguisher but I’m a one grow cycle per bulb guy for that very reason. Fortunately this is probably the last time I’ll be using hid unless next winters particularly cold.

Bulb was brand new. The ballast was a few years old and the first year I ran that mofo 24/0. So I got my moneys worth. I actually came across fire extinguisher pucks you can put in your tent.

Well some well known grower on here said to buy a new bulb every grow so I did. He also said buy the cheap ones and I did. Big mistake

The bulb had about 8-10 weeks of 12/12 on it.

Damn, that’s shitty. What brand? I’ve had good luck with ipower bulbs. Using an old 1000w phantom ballast rn doesn’t dim but it’s way more well built than the 600w ipower ballast I’ve got.

They just have really bad quality control on their electronics, you’re fine with shit like their grow bags, snips and sprayers but anything else ain’t worth the risk imo.

that said their snips do dull really quickly and have shit springs.

Ive looked at the upayday lights a few times. They’re tempting for the price but they’ve gotta be cutting corners somewhere.

It looks like the normal price is in line with other lights it’s size. It was just a really good deal. I don’t think you can get them for that price anymore.

The diodes arent samsung. That dosent mean they arent ok diodes though, i have a few medicgrow ez-8 with bridgelux diodes and its a beast still. Thats why that lights also decently affordable.

Usually it just means lower efficiency. They still put out good light.

I rock a mars with kingbrite diodes and a couple generic leds with undisclosed diodes. They work fine, more concerned with the wiring, connections and heat management.
