Will two 4" exhaust work instead of a 6"

Think I need to exhaust more air.
I already have an extra 4" inline.
Will using 2 4" fans help me out or will they just compete for the same air? Seams obvious but that's when I second guess myself haha.
Also if it 2 fans would help. Can I connect with a T fitting and exhaust out the same hole in the wall? Or do I need 2 separate holes?
Hopefully someone's tried this and knows from experience. Ot just knows cuz they smarter then me :dunce:

So just to clarify: your saying. 2x 4" fans going to a 6" Y and then out...
This makes alot of sense having the bigger Y. I should have thought of that.!

Well if u were curious. I got it done and the room is doing much better!
I know it looks rough. After this run I'll upgrade to a real sheet metal fitting.
I had these plastic jars sitting around. Openings are 4.25" and the jar part is 5.75" cut and taped at an angle to make the Y. When I don't need the 2nd exhaust (winter) I can just cap with the screw on lid20220302_230045.jpg20220302_230053.jpg

Don’t forget though that you will get smell leakage due to one fan not having a carbon filter attached.

that’s if you’re using filters.

Not sure if the 4 inches is a limit but I would purchase the 6" setup and upsize. Keep your 4" as a quick spare or a different area or sell it.

Cost wise, you are so close to between the 2 that you will have a better end product, less install, filter maintenance, etc in the long run.

fans and exhaust and filters (if you are running them) can benefit from a quick calculation. What is the space the fan is working? Will you use a filter? What fan? What filter? What is the CFM of the fan and filter? Knowing this could possibly change an answer. Some filters have minimum airflow and it may be healthier to run a 6 inch at low vs 2 4 inches at super low.

1st.. thanks. 2nd. U make solid points. I think I'll upgrade to a 6" fan n filter within the month. Current setup is an eye sore. And would need a 2nd filter as @jondamon also pointed out. As the smell is already lofting outside ;)
