Couple cloning questions

I cut these clones off my plants just before turning the lights to 12/12. I've had them under a SF-600 24/0 since.

Which is my 1st question; is that light ok, not enough, or too much? It's about 3+ feet up from the clones (as high as I can go, I'm guessing it's fine since it's working)



Some of the clones almost look like they are flowering, is that an issue?



Only 2 have started root thus far, so final question how long should I leave them in the humidome, or remove and go to stage two once they start to root?

Not sure about the light, seems a bit on the bright side. I've rooted a cutting from a blooming plant. Not sure what you mean about stage two, once roots exist, the cutting grows into a plant.

I concur with @simpleleaf the clones are getting too much light, you would be better off moving the light closer and dimming it, clones need very little light. Like 100-150 PPFD (Photone app works great for testing PPFD, just know on iPhone you need to put printer paper over the phones facetime camera for accurate results)

The almost flowering appearance could be from too extreme of light intensity in the clone stages, I've done it so bad where a plant self-topped and grew 2 heads out the top without any actual topping occuring.

Really intense light will cause any plant to not reach for light and therefore you'll get that "pre flowering" look in veg due to the new nodes not stretching out and instead kinda stacking on top of each other.

yes, i concur with everything said so far. too much light is causing the new growth which makes it look like its flowering

I'd love too, but it doesn't have a dimmer. Any way to add a dimmer? I could also cover them with something to shield some light I guess. Like a pillowcase or printer paper?

My main tent still has the flowering mothers, so I don't want to put these into buckets (RDWC), until they are further along. I have a smaller 4x4 setup for going from clone to early veg. I made this container to reduce space/stones, etc. Once they develop good roots I'll move the final best looking 8 into buckets, and then into the 'big tent'



I'm still very new at all this, so feel free to tell me I'm an idiot. I likely won't listen anyway, but when I fail (or don't) I'll remember your words clearly

We all start somewhere. Anyone who calls you an idiot should be ignored. Exactly what you said would help a lot, just cover the humidity domes with printer paper sheets to help diffuse the light and lessen the intensity, when the clones root and get a little bigger I'm sure they'll appreciate the extra light when the paper is taken off though!

If I want to get plants growing fast I'll start seedlings under T5s/sp150 then onto either a 240w led or a 250w mh asap.
With clones once rooted under soft light they go under 240w/250w mh asap.

If I'm not in a hurry I leave them under sp150 or T5s until I need them.

I'd remove the dome and pot them up, give them a few days then start increasing light.

leave them as long as they need to root, chances are they've started to root, but havent caught up with the others yet.
as long as they look relaively healthy (i've had the smallest tip left on a clone and it still took, all the other leaves had yellowed and fallen off). leave them in the dome, hopefully they will all take, but you may have a failier.

Yes, there are lots of dimmer-circuit schematics online, but you need to be comfortable reading schematics and working with electronics, soldering guns, etc., and some study would be required to determine the best circuit to use.

For my clones I like CFL, a 60-watt incandescent equivalent, about a foot and a half away.

you may find this helpful, ive only had a quick look at it, whilst researching dimming leds and the SF-600 in particular. so far ive read that you can dim them. but it wont change the lights spectrum output.

try and keep 9 plants, 3 is a magic number, i allways do plants in threes if i can, like 9 clones in a 1 m x 1m x 2m tent, but its up t you, what ever work best for you
