Next hype strain

I dont really get in on "hype" strains....ive smoked a lot of them and most of them are pretty underwhelming, even in the flavor department imo.
But if I had to guess the next big thing, I'd go with Blueberry Cupcake from HSC. Its Blueberry Muffin x Wedding Cake.
Blueberry Muffin and Wedding Cake are both rarities imo, as theyre both HYPE strains, but theyve also proven themselves in flavor and high (and of course bag appeal/smell too). So combining them sounds like a winning formula to me.

Have you heard about those apples and banana crosses that are about to drop in a few days? They look great on Instagram. Not sure if you do Instagram.
No, but ive absolutely hated the flavor on every banana weed ive ever tried lol....with the exception of Strawnana but it may be pheno specific - the pheno I smoked was like 90% strawberry in flavor with hints of banana here and there.
In other words, I never tried apples and bananas.....never tried apricot either.
These are the flavors I like in my weed:
Blueberry (pre 98, blueberry muffin pheno, 2004-2006 also) - NOT ANY Blueberry from today (blueberry muffin from hsc is great - but its NOT the same flavor)
Grape/Purple-not-so-grape (90s-early 2000s purple and grape flavors....think purple kush, grape ape, random purple hazes from that era.....strangely enough GDP was my least favorite purple back then but it still is better than most of today's grape purple weed - BUT honestly havent tried many of todays grape/purple)
Sour (im NOT talking gassy/diesely, im talking sour like a sour patch kid....only had it once since 2006 and that was in 2013 in perth amboy NJ - where everyone called it sour diesel - there was NO diesel flavor in it - just straight up sour - no pine or earthiness or anything but SOUR)....but I do enjoy sour dubb, ECSD and other "sour diesel"s.
Juicy fruit gum (only had it once in 2005 - exact replica of the gum! They said this was the juicy fruit strain....i tried supposedly juicy fruit in 2021 and there was absolutely no resemblence in look, flavor or smell.
Cherry (i love this flavor in just about any strain....cherry lemon gelato, cherry gorilla, cherry pie........ive got cherry ak47 seeds....never hated a strain with this flavor.)
Strawberry (strawberry cough is the only one I LOVED but I felt the strawberry flavor wasnt very strong, but it WAS there and was perfect....strawnana I liked but didnt love....strawberry OG (cali connection version) gave me headaches 6 out of 7 times smoking it....it was a different strawberry flavor and i feel like that flavor gave me the headaches...really havent tried any other strawberry strains)

Haze flavors
I do like gas/diesel but feel its becoming stale as its literally in almost everything now

This was in CO 2012. Exact flavor. High wasn't special though. Double D in denver or aurora? They had a chemdawg #4 that was the strongest thing I had ever experienced in flower. Nothing else was much of anything. Like there was 1 good plant in the whole state, but it was destructively potent.
Yeah juicy fruit wasnt really potent, but it did give a noticably happier than usual high

Juicyfruit from sensi originally was thai x some kind of afghan nevil couldnt remember when asked he said probably used one of the northern lights for the ghani side and the juicyfruit taste comes from the thai supposedly highland thai has a juicyfruit pheno in it i remember the sensi one years ago it was tasty weed
Sorry guys missed some replies. To who ever said fresh coast that’s funny cause I got a couple different varieties from them getting ready to flower now. I got truffle breath, stankonya , and a sensi star cross I got as a freebie.
Im hoping these crosses from lit farms are fire too, they are also about to go into flower. I have red onion(red velvet pancakes x gmo), red velvet pancakes, and cinnamon rollz (pancake x runtz).

I have been seeing a lot about that one. I don’t remember the cross what was it? I had the lumpys apple fritter cut, and grown out an apple fritter cross. To me the terps while nice enough to move bags isn’t as strong as I’d prefer in the fruit department. Besides I don’t smoke apple fritter much at all, the buzz doesn’t agree with me I just eat then get all bloated from eating too much.
I got some cherries and grape crosses from Ethos about to go to flower as well. If you can try Tropicana banana, so far it’s my favorite banana strain and actually smells like banana.
Well hopefully this red velvet crosses I got are fire, I tried to get a pack of E85 x apple and bananas but lost the auction.

Just make sure you there on the 24th. There's like 2 fire crosses that might become hype strains of the year. They out of this world!!!!!!!! There also will be a rap song dropping about this hopefully soon as well!!!!!! This will be huge!!!!!

Huh where we going on the 24th? Not much on rap songs usually, but some are alright.
The market is scary af in mi atm. So I know it might seem silly to chase new strains but really I’m just trying to say afloat while all the rest of the guys race to the bottom and then sell their equipment. If anyone looking for deals on grow equipment bring a trailer to Michigan and you can fill it up with deals off FB marketplace.

Lol the leds are all the ones for sale right now, and if mine don’t hit this time they are coming down and I’m hanging my de hps. If you don’t believe me go look at all the 500 dollar bar style leds on fb market place that sold for 1200 dollars last year.
I know a lot of people that would be happy to get 1500 right now. I still do better than that but my quality is better than the majority(not everybody of course). But with all the cheap packs around atm it’s getting more and more competitive. People bitch if they get the same things too many times in a row etc.
Also like many I didn’t switch 1 for 1 I took advantage of needing less cooling and added more fixtures. So I’m actually running more watts in that room then I did previously.
Every strain I have that is crossed with Project 4516 is frosty af and really nice coloring. Early sample nugs are already putting my dick in the dirt with very complex flavors.

Dude are you still going to be excited about this market when 1000/lb is normal. How about even less? I seriously don’t understand how you can be excited right now. And LED isn’t 40-50 percent cheaper compared to DE hps. Maybe compared to single ended but still, not DE.
yeah I might be taking down half my 1930’s soon and replacing them with the DE’s i took down. Checkerboard action.

Don't look for hype make it by creating amazing cultivars. Easier said than done right!
For me a good example is me this morning. I have a jar of Apple Fritter and Blueberry. The Fritter was grown well by a good friend. I grew it out last year and let it go due to lacking in a few departments. It is good herb though especially flavor wise.
Made coffee and rolled up a fritter bone. Halfway through I was sick of it to be honest. I also knew if I finished the joint, I would still be just as high as I was after half. Low ceiling for sure on the AF.
Made another cup of coffee and packed a bubbler of the blueberry. The seeds came from another forum member as part of a project. DJ Short Blueberry F4. All sorts of variation in a good way and classic blueberry. After two bubbler hits I am pie eyed and smile plastered. Another rip and here I am rambling. Time to walk the dog and investigate what the day has to offer outdoors. 3 hits of blueberry has me higher than if I smoked a half zip of fritter. You just can't achieve this level of ripped with fritter no matter how much you smoke.

Some phenotypes of the F4, and the last pic is the bud I just smoke a piece of. The flavors range from candy blueberry intense artificial flavor to blueberry the fresh fruit to almost blueberry wine, depending on the pheno.
This bud in the last pic was blueberry #3. When the jar is opened it fills the room with distinct blueberry muffin aroma. Goddamn mouthwatering. As the smoke hits the mouth the intial flavor is similar to the smell, but morphs to an acidic blueberry flavor that coats the mouth. Upon exhale the sweetness ramps up to what one would imagine as sugar coated blueberry candy. It is quite sublime, yet not the best of the batch..more to come.

My point being that when I crack a jar of Fritter others break out their Fritter. When I crack the Blueberry jar no one has it and I promise everyone immediately wants it. That's the hype, created by the flower, not the net.
