flush with dry amendments?

So i've been doing some research on flushing with dry amendments before harvest such as gaia green 284. I read multiple places that a flush is not needed. saying that the plant will stop feeding it self from the microbes when its nearing its time for harvest. does anyone have any experience with this? Do you keep top dressing till a few weeks before harvest or do you give the last feed 5 weeks before harvest?

Look up Mr. Canucks Grow on Youtube. He uses Gaia green living soil, Gaia Green 4-4-4 All Purpose in veg, 50/50 Mix of Gaia green All purpose and Bloom for when he starts flower and Gaia Green 2-8-4 Bloom for flower. I believe he usually does the last top feed of Gaia Green 2-8-4 Bloom and Wormcastings 5 Weeks into Flower. Then just uses plain water the rest of the way until harvest. He does it so that the plant will use all the nutrients in the soil and in their fans leaves for the second half of flower. Doing this, the plants will flush the soil on its own so you dont have to. All the plants he grows fades out and changes color by the time he harvests. Check him out!

No need to flush. How long to continue top dressing, depends on what you're top dressing with. Various dry amendments take different amounts of time to break down and become available nutrients for the plants.

If you want something organic to top dress with in the later part of flowering, try burnt cucumber skin. Get some cucumbers, skin them, and then burn the skins to an ash on a pan or over a bbq, then let them cool and topdress with the ash. Best organic "PK bud booster" you can find.

That is terrible advice.

Do not look up canuck unless you want terrible grow information and plants that end up looking like crap.

These nasty plants are taken from canuck videos. They're examples of what not to do. It defies logic that anyone would look to that guy for growing advice.

Yes you can top dress if needed in week 4-5.
In organics its not necessary to flush. The plants will stop taking up nutrient when she's at her end. However it's still important for the plant to continue making glucose all the way to the chop day. Watering in yucca will stimulate the microbes and they tell the plant to make more sugars. And so the plant will and this is what increases final gains in the ripening phase.
With salt based nutrients it's a little different as the plant still has a need to uptake water and so it take up elements too, making a harsh smoke and chemical tasting buds.

That's simply not true.

Which "chemicals" do you think are responsible for affecting the taste?

Then state how first, before you go and get to asking another question.
You made an outlandish claim without any empirical evidence.

You claimed salt-based chemical buildup affects the taste of a bud

Please explain the mechanism how this occurs, I'm sure nobody wants "chemical tasting buds".

Here's a simple chart to explain the process of nutrient uptake:

What is a chemical tasting bud?
