These are my plants at 1 month old from seeds.

i started them in small pots with bonzai mix.

the slow nutes in this caused minor nute burn so i transplanted into this 50% perlite 50% organic potting mix soil.

I have'nt used any nutes yet because they look fine. nutes seems so confusing with all this fear of nutrient burn. and how much to use and all that. i can't be bothered with it at the moment

hey, anyone know what strain this is??

wow, looking good for a first timer! my first time i had 1 plant with a 40w incadescent, then i switched it to a single 23watt cfl. haha and good luck finding out what strain it is... its very hard to distiguish untill they bud and you see it and taste it.

yea looking good mate. Mine is at the same stage as yours, about same height and time too.
Im a first timer too, at weed that is. Have some horticultral knowledge though. But yea looking good mate. keep ur journal up to date ;)

PS dont u know what strain u have. Were did u get the seed from?

well my mate got given an ounce of male plant (don't know why) and he spent like 2 hours getting all the seeds out. i just grabbed a few off him. neither of us know anything about strains.
i don't think we have much variety where i live

I've just begun flowering... i had a beginers growers guide that said this:

If your plants receive 12 hours of light per day they will probably mature in 2 to 2.5 months. If they get 16 hours of light per day they will probably be blooming in 3.5 to 4 months. With 18 hours of light per day, they will flower in 4.5 to 5 months.

I thought this meant that i had to veg for 4.5 to 5 months before i can switch to 12/12! But luckily this was cleared up for my by the wise and knowledgeable Rollitup society.

So the flowering begins...

I'd rather not use any fertilizer because nute burn scares the shit out of me.

If u look at the background of my pics u will see that i grow in my bathroom, the light hangs where the shower head would be and the timer sits on the toilet seat. it's good because i have a vent fan in there but it means i have to piss outside in the cold hours of the morning. No pain no gain tho eh.

You might want to trim off the lowest branches on each plant to increase air-flow and to allow the plants to focus on bud production where the bud sites have better access to light. Those bottom branches will not yield much anyways.

4th day of flowering.

The one in the bigger pot is growing much taller then the two in the 5L pot. i don't want to re-pot until i know they're females... does any1 know if its wise to re-pot when they are already so big?

no sign of pre-flowers yet (well not that i know of)

one of the leaves has some problem with it.

the root on one of the plants seems to be tangled in itself causing the plant to lean over. its like a knot.

a bit of drooping happening.

still in high hopes though

I would say that it is wise to re-pot a plant once its root mass has grown too large for its container. As a general rule, from Jorge Cervantes, that's one gallon per month of growth. Besides that, I can only speak from personal experience here with my grow. I transplanted into larger pots right before flowering because I wanted overall healthy plants. You don't know what the male/female ratio will end up at, so you should probably make the right decision in taking care of all the plants. Plus, you could keep some pollen to make your own little seeds instead of buying them from amsterdam breeders...

I can understand that you don't want to waste soil/effort on plants that you're possibly just going to hack down, but check out the possibility of recycling your soil. Some people say it's a no-no, but nature does it. That's what we're trying to reproduce/improve on in the first place. Plants look healthy for a month, I think they may even be bigger at that time then mine were. If you're looking for comparisons, check out my grow.

to be even more specific, you could really be hindering your plant's growth if you are not giving it the room it needs. A bigger root mass will give you more bud (assuming, of course, that other factors are also in order)! There are ways to minimize stress during transplanting, and I would look to a good grow video or the FAQ to see exactly how to take care of that. I would argue that not transplanting is just skimping; cutting corners makes little sense when you've already invested so much time/money. spend the extra money/energy and re-pot them.

clekstro. thanks for all you're help. i'm going get my self some nice big pots tomorrow; you're right, it is cutting corners to just wait if they're female. i can see roots coming through the drainage holes.. so yeah, thanks a lot for the advise.

They look sativa/indica mix.Im alittle confused though.Your friend got a male plant with seeds? How is that a male has pollen sacs not seeds.Females will give seeds if pollanated by males dont have seeds.If by chance it was a hermie then your more then likely growing hermies.Pull some clones from the plants root them then force them into flower for a week and it will tell you what each original plant is male or female and by then the big plants will be ready for 12/12.Keep the females dump the males and your good to go.Yank few clones from the known female right before 12/12 and you got future female mommies.Pots are little small as plants look sort of small for the age.Keep the light as close as can safely and get rid of the foil it causes hot spots and burns..Good luck

these are my babies after about 5 days flowering; i keep having to raise the lights, theyre really starting to shoot up. i can see pre-flowers they are too small for me to tell. i tried taking photos of them but my camera is too shit with close ups :(

off to get some flowering fert and new pots tomorrow

any1 know if i should use this 'seasol' on my plants
here is the info

Active Constituent: Seaweed extract which contains naturally occurring growth stimulants, potassium and trace elements. Equivalent to not less then 700g/litre of fresh seaweed. Seasol is a plant conditioner, not a nitrogen based fert. It contains virtually no nitrogen or phosphorus.

If i do use it, then how much should i use? all it says on the back is "9 litres diluted mixture covers approx. 2-4 square metres. what about three pots?

cheers filthy... all taken into account; yeah it must have been a female plant with seeds on it. not a male plant... but yeah they were seeds nonetheless. the biggest plant has the most developed pre-flower and it looks like its got pistins to me but there seems to be more than jsut two. i dont know, its hard to tell like they sorta look like little tiny spikes like bart simpson's head...
