I started these plants a looooong time ago. One Tropicana Banana (Barneys Farm genetics) from a clone (Nov. 8/21) i took from last crop, and two Hulkberry BB3 seeds (RQS)( germinated Sept. 16/21 ). All the time I was waiting for my crop to finish in the 4x4, I had these plants in the 2x2, trying to keep them smaller as my 2x2 is short. Had them initially under a 24w strip for seedlings, and eventually purchased a Mars Hydro ts1000, as i thought they needed more light. I also transplanted them from solo cups into 1 gal. pots. I tried to keep them small and so didnt give much nutrients. This led to some deficiency or deficiencies.

Once the previous crop was dry and out of my 4x4, I transplanted into two SIPs. I put the TBC in one, and the two BB3 into the other. I had hoped that transplanting into the SIPS with Coots mix I cooked for about 3-4 weeks would remedy any deficiency but it doesn't seem to have completely fixed the issues.

If anyone has any ideas, feel free to comment.

Yes, running 82 degrees, and 60% rh. I have an AC Infinity Controller 67and fan on intake, as well as exhaust. Have Meijiu F10 Max led at about 24" from plants, dimmed to approx. 60%. Used photone app to set light at around 550-600 ppfd. I live in a fairly dry climate, and combined with airflow from intake and exhaust makes it so I need two humidifiers to keep humidity up.

I see bug damage and K def in pic 1 2and 3.The rest just look starved.

Go down the list:
water
root health
bugs
soil... should be good, did you add anything extra?
slurry test ph.
theres more just what I can think of atm.

Water? Should be good now as they are in SIPS now. When they were in 1 gal pots, they were underwatered at times.

Root health..., I have no idea.

Bug damage...., I suspected thrips at one point, just haven't seen any. Is that what you see?

Soil. No, I didn't add anything but a coots mix so, yes should be OK.

Slurry test ph. No idea how to do that. Google it? Of course I need a ph tester.

I added 4 tbsp 4-4-4 with ewc to each plant last week, and then again this week, doesn't seem to have helped . They still look starved.

I want to flower soon as summer is coming and I may struggle with heat issues if this crop takes too long. But, if I have a deficient, bug infested grow, maybe I should just cut it down and wait until fall and start over.

They don’t just go away, you can see damage on new growth, I assume they are there. I’m out on sips and coots mix.

Yes, lights just came on. Went to inspect plants but didn't notice anything on leaves. But, I've only been growing a short time and so, although I've read about different pests, I've never seen a thrip for real. So, I think I may have them bad, as I checked my yellow sticky traps with a magnifying glass and there seems to be numerous little elongated like a thrip corpses on them. That might be what I'm seeing? They are absolutely tiny ??

Anyone on a remedy for this? I live above the 49th parallel. Or should I consider chopping it all down? Is there a point where it has harmed the plants too much? A point of no return?:o

They are really small, like some other pests they spend a portion of there life in the soil, I eradicated them with fresh nematodes and a dr doom fogger.

Looks like thrip damage. And possible lockout. Do you know the pH of your soil? I'd want to check close to the stalk that probably has remaining coco and stuff, and the new soil on the outside. You need a decent pH pen or probe to do that though.

Ok. I can order those items on Amazon. Thank you for your help. Oh, did you apply nematodes once and fog once? Or numerous times?

I didn't use any coco at any point. I purchased a ph pen a while back, not sure it works still. I'll check that out. I will get a new one if it's fubarred. Yeah, @myke mentioned something about a slurry test to check ph, but I have no clue on that. Where would I find out how to do a proper slurry test? Also, I've been amending around the stem so would that material be indicative of the whole root zone if I took a slurry from there? Edit: ph pen is fubarred. Time for a new one. The secret to taking are of a ph pen?

I'd forget about the fogger and nematodes for now, and just spray with spinosad. After you use the spinosad, then you could add the toads or other predators.

There's lots of ways to get rid of thrips. Citric acid spray will also kill them. Citric is the main ingredient in lots of bug sprays.

I'd just grab some Monterey Garden Insect Spray (spinosad), unless you already have citric. Then I'd use the citric now, and use the spinosad when you get it.

What pH pen did you order. I hope it wasn't like $12 from Amazon (yellow or green).

For the slurry test you'd have to dig a little, so that would be a pain close to the stalk. But you might be able to get an idea that way.

Spinosad available in Canada? Are pyrethrins OK? Seems that may be all I can get here?

Bought a Milwaukee, not sure it still works.

I added nematodes a couple times, once when I potted to final pots, they need to stay moist as far as I know, the fogger was one time. If you take care of that and the other issues, will be better then starting over, they will recover. The fog will be what kills them, just take care of it while you’re in veg, put some fresh pest strips in after to monitor.
