Something in my rez slowing growth. How to get it out

Plants are in my rez and the plants aren't growing normal speed for DWC. Should I bleach the rez with the plants in there or just use UC Roots solution (kind of like bleach) at a higher amount?

i've used both hth pool shock and southern ag bennies. both work well. and cheap.

you just need to pick sterile or good bacteria and go from there. and try to fix any issues that might give you rot in the first place

Could I leave the plants in the rez with the pool shock or whatever in there? Will the pool shock mess up the plants?

Could I also use like bleach in the rez and leave the plants in there? How many ML of bleach per gallon of water with the bleach if I leave the plants in there?

this is why i was asking if you for sure have rot. if it's res funk, i'd take the plants out and hit the res with a lot of chlorine. if it's rot, then hit the whole sytem with about 3ppm of free chlorine. you can find chlorine calculators here on riu

Can I Just take the plants out and use bleach and let it circulate for a few hours? I don't know what it is, never had this problem in 8 years. I think it is in 2 different tents with different rez's.

My one plants stems has turned purple like? I haven't seen that before, is that a problem? Plant looks healthy mostly just growing at a 75% rate.

I also took clones from that plant and they are purple too. As long as they root and stay healthy it shouldn't be a problem right?

Are the containers/air lines/etc all 8 years old too? I would replace anything I could after so so long. Plastics\grommets scum up, degrade over time, and can start leaching back contaminants and whatnot. Like old farm tractor tires, that leave black soot on your finger when you rub it, that is what happens to the grommets after so long.

When you say something is in the res, there literally could be something IN the res.

There is always some little nook or cranny that even bleach water cannot penetrate through, unless you scrub every part. I would just replace things like the air stones, lines, and pretty much everything you can instead of spending all the time cleaning them... then clean the rest with bleach the best you can.

The UC roots isn't really garbage, considering you haven't had a root rot problem in 8 years, but your paying high cost for water is all. Like they say I'd switch to pool shock when you use it up..

Can I just leave the plants in there while I pool shock the rez?? I plan on running the pool shock for maybe 2-3 hours. Air stones and lines have been randomly replaced here and there.

Simple answer: I would disassemble the entire systems, soak and scrub every part with concentrated bleach, put them back in, and then run at whatever rate the calculator above calls for... for the remainder of your life, lol..

Long answer: Also, air layer clone some of the biggest branches on the plants just in case, so you have way bigger sized clones ready to replace the current plants with. The air layers can stay alive, even if the host plant itself is literally dying from root issues/rot. You can literally turn 75% of the whole plant back into a clone, and have it ready to flower in a month, instead of waiting to veg little cuttings.

I would do that right away if you do have root rot, and its not looking\smelling too good. You'll have way better success than small cuttings. Be careful if taking huge ones from a mother plant with root rot though, Ive seen it travel right up the center of a branch from the root zone, like a dark rotten vein, all the way up. You wouldn't want that in a clone.

I tend to be lazy too, but problems happen fast with DWC. Root rot sucks, next thing you know entire branches wilt up and die, 2 or 3 at a time, and the plant is gone in a week. Sounds like you've had good luck so far..

As long as the cuttings root they are good? With the cuttings have issues with them or possible be like a hermy??
