Could I run regular and feminized at the same time?

We just legalized and I'm allowed four plants.

I really want to grow Mr. Nice's Black Widow because I want the real deal 90's cup winner. However, I also want to do other strains so my idea is if I could run four reg widows, figure out the sex early, throw out the males and put them back in veg. Then I would fill in However many spaces there are with fem and then flower them both when they're ready.

Is this a realistic thing that I could do reasonably easily? I've never really grown before so I'm not sure what's realistic and what's fantasies I'm cooking up in my head prematurely..

Thanks!

Yes absolutely could be done but the problem im seeing is how will you catch the fems up. About a month on average for plant to show sex. Imo at that point id keep vegging any fems from the regs to fill in but…..

Like others have said if you've never grown you might want to wait until you've gotten a few grows under your belt before complicating things. You can get feminized White Widow which depending on where you get it from is basically the same thing or really close to that Black Widow. I wouldn't put too much emphasis on Cup Winners as that process is pretty flawed and somewhat meaningless as far as finding quality genetics.

Good luck

You can always buy DNA testing kits from Farmer Freeman and do testing on your regular seeds as early as like 10 days I think. You just take a small leaf sample to mail in. Then when you get the results you can kill the males and pop the female seeds. The hydro shop in DC has a drop off service for the kits if you don't want to mail them in. Each test is like 15 bucks roughly. There are plenty of good feminized seeds out there to start out with though to keep it simple. Check out DC Seed Exchange for seeds, he's a good guy that has great service. Strayfox, Brisco's Bargain Beans, Magic Strains Auto flower seeds are just a couple I've done well with and were easy to grow. If you wait until 4/20 most of the seed banks and breeders will have big sales and it's a good time to stock up.

It isn't as much about being a cup winner as it is about the security that I have the original that became legendary. I guess I can wait for regular seeds but I still want to do at least two strains, but I'll have to do some more research before deciding on anything at this point.

Does anyone know anything about Buddha Seeds classics AK? The ad I read online is they used landraces as mimics of the og parents to create their own version of what they believe the original '92 'perfected' ak-47 would've been like, and they say they've bred it to make it easier to grow..

*very* interested in that... but can't seem to find anything about it on seedfinder or anywhere else really except seed banks.
They have a whole "buddha classics" lineup where they recreate different classic strains which is uh..strange for a company I don't see anywhere else.

They say theyve recreated white widow too. Lol.

So what is the best white widow seed closest to the original from the 90s?
Ask 5 different people get 5 different answers. The truth is that many strains claiming to be the original are not. Pretty much all strains are someones recreations these days. Just get some decent genetics and grow. That's all you can do. You really can't trust much of anything when it comes to cannabis seeds and claims. You'll find outfits that popped up in the last few years claiming to have used X cut or Y cut that's been preserved by someone for years. I wouldn't believe much of anything you read online regarding cannabis genetics. Everyone has a story and much of it is fiction.

The constant question
I don’t know the answer but I wasted a lot of cash and time looking
I tend to feel it’s hit and miss on all seed plants
I'm not sure where to ask this so I guess I'll ask while I'm in a thread baked without making a new one for right now.

Anyone know anything about Killer Queen or grimmdog by brothers grimm? They say the killa is easy to grow and the dawg is a limited edition and I found a site that says they have an 8 pack but I'm not sure how legit that is.

Is there anywhere better I can ask these types of things? :)

It’s your thread which allows you liberty on questions
Now I’ll kinda repeat what has been said
Don’t buy into the hype it’s just a sales effort
You trying to find old school is just what thousands before you have done
And tbh if it was that simple everyone would be raving on every website on their finds
Just buy some seeds and give up on the holy grail
It’s like love it may happen but not when your looking :peace:

If you want some legit old school stuff there's some northern lights for sale at Authentic Genetics I've been wanting to get that's bred by Todd McCormick who got the seeds from Seattle Greg. Seattle Greg was the original creator of Northern Lights and the guy that sent the seeds to Nevil at The Seed Bank of Holland in Amsterdam back in the 80s. These are recreations from seeds from a relative of Seattle Greg that passed away and he had these stashed in his freezer from the 80s. They have NL#2, #5 and are working on the purest indica or NL#1. He also has original haze by Mel Frank and GDP with a bunch of original haze crosses. Seeds are 100 bucks for 10 regular seeds.

There's also the clone route but you really need to do some research on who you're buying from to narrow down the chances of getting a fake cut or even worse bringing in viruses to your grow. I just started flowering some sweet pre '98 Bubba Kush and Motorbreath 15 clones I got from Dookie Farms and he's a good guy to do business with. Here's a couple pics at week 2. I love the pain relief from the real deal old bubba kush and Dookie Farms has the real cut so it was worth the 250 bucks for me to grab a few cuts. Motorbreath 15 is just a great pure gas strain and his is crazy potent so it should make for some good medicine.IMG_20220405_163916878.jpgIMG_20220405_163933120.jpg

Like I said. Ask 5 different people get 5 different answers.

If you do a google search for "Northern Lights strain history" you'll get various different stories. Some say it was created by the "Indian" on an Island in Washington State. Some say it came from California, while others say it was bred in the Holland and came to the Pacific Northwest in the 80's. I'm sure there are more different stories but those are just 3 that took me a minute to find.

I don't know what story is correct. There's about 50 different versions out there these days all claiming to be from the original.
