So many options now! I look at some of this grow tent bling and wonder why all this is needed. Grow light in a basement corner used to be standard lol.

I totally get it. I guess my question is about the necessity of some of this stuff versus it being more of a status type thing. Spend a $1000 to get an extra half ounce. That type of thing. And it still can be Jimmy.
it’s whatever works for you while giving the plants the best possible environment that you can.
A lot of folks get hung up on VPD charts and trying to chase perfect numbers.I totally get it. I guess my question is about the necessity of some of this stuff versus it being more of a status type thing. Spend a $1000 to get an extra half ounce. That type of thing.
I am running 330 watts ledA lot of folks get hung up on VPD charts and trying to chase perfect numbers.
personally I use a very minimal setup to an extent.
i have a
300w LED
Exhaust fan and filter with temp controller
2x circulations fans
Tubular heater
DIY auto irrigation to make it easier on me watering.
Veg 22-25C +50% RH
Flower 22-25C -50% RH
Fully agree.I am running 330 watts led
6 inch fan and filter
I add a little humidity if needed occasionally
Other than that it is just a tent in the basement. I seem to be getting similar results as the ones who spent a fortune. This is the reasoning behind my observation. I really just dont want the first time growers or people thinking about growing think that it costs a fortune to get started.
Remember that many people don't live in or have ideal circumstances/environment for a productive grow. For many in places that are hot or cold in extremes, all that extra stuff is what's making it possible. You're lucky enough to have a place that cannabis likes without much massaging of the grow environment.I am running 330 watts led

Very true buddy hence why we now have a style of growing called “Texas style” which is fully sealed and enviro controlledRemember that many people don't live in or have ideal circumstances/environment for a productive grow. Very true. It just boggles the mind with some stuff. I do remember the days of a single light in a closet with some aluminum foil to help out though! Ah. Those were the days! lolRemember that many people don't live in or have ideal circumstances/environment for a productive grow. For a weed they're pretty fussy, probably because we're asking them to perform in ways that aren't natural. Take a walk over to the 'Plant Problems' forum...for a plant that's easy to grow, there's a whole lot of people looking for help with their sick plants.People should also remember they call it weed for a reason. They are pretty hardy unless extremes happen in my experience.
For sure. Its like growing prize roses or something. I wonder what the breakdown on this site is? Smokers versus those who grow for fun? And why cannabis if you arent going to smoke or disperse it around? The other thing is that this is a hobby for many...not just the means to an end (aka, growing just because you want to smoke/vape/eat)...lots of people find the minute to minute experience to be an engaging & rewarding passtime. Same as many other such 'hobbies' people spend to get new toys and try new things.
Every niche hobby in the world has a gear ecosystem designed to feed that urge.
You nailed it when you said "aren't natural". I feel like this is a lot of the sickness problems. Believe me I have had my share of issues growing. There is a lot to be said for just letting a plant do its thing. Get them off to a good solid start and a lot of the issues take care of themselves. I am by no means a organic pusher. I use fertilizers but really that is it.For a weed they're pretty fussy, probably because we're asking them to perform in ways that aren't natural. There's definitely lots of people here who are growing more than they personally need. I have a pound sitting in my basement right now from my February harvest as well as a bunch from when I harvested in October. My 'trim bag' is mostly just flower that wasn't as tight as the stuff I jar...my leaf trim I just dump (Though I know that will pain lots of people here). For sure. Sure it sold a whole bunch from the back of Playboy/Penthouse magazines back in the 80's and early 90's but don't you get the feeling that the people who bought them weren't really interested in growing...that was the point...it does it all for you. Beyond a few people here who have them as hand-me-down oddities, it's not like they really did much for anyone as far as I can tell.Idk the phototron was pretty fancy lol
