Taking an indica outside in a month

This is my second grow. I live in New York state and i've started an indica in a 5 gal bucket. I don't know for sure yet it's a female but for now i'm just hoping. Last year I did this with it on an 18/6 schedule prior to going outside, put it in the ground around may 18th and it worked fine but this year it's got 24 hour light (which I heard will still work) and I'm hoping the extra hours of light help it catch up a little in terms of growth because I started a little late.

As of now it only has 3 lights on it, an LED desk lamp, a CFL bulb and an LED flood. Not sure how much more light it will need before I can get it outside but if necessary I'll buy more lights. Last year I started in a bucket as well but I had to put it in a plastic tote filled with dirt before I could even get it outside because it was becoming root bound which I hope I can avoid this time. I could also get a fabric grow bag and put it in that so it's easier to cut open and get in the ground.

Anyone have any advice or wisdom to help me make the most of my (admittedly limited) setup? Thanks

You need little light to veg in reality imo. Keep it healthy put it out jun 1st and trust me you won’t have to worry about size. You do need to harden the plants off though for about a week typically

You also imo have enough time to flip it and sex it then veg again. My plants are only about a foot or so when i put them out and they get bigger and than i want. Good luck its not easy to get them to the end there without protection

Looking at your light selection get rid of the flood and add a couple cfls

Yeah last year I put it out may 20th which is a month from the summer solstice, basically when the frost is over and it turned into a 7 foot tall thang lol. I'll probably just veg on 24 until it goes outside, last year it didn't show sex for quite awhile until around the time it went outside, I guess you can tell by whether the calyxes cross each other and more obviously when you start seeing preflowers.

Am gonna add another CFL bulb soon, I have it under a a ladder so I can kinda just keep adding on lights until I run out of room. It starts needing more light quick when it starts to spring up. I also throw compost and shit in the bucket too which def helps fertility

Yes i got them out a couple weeks earlier last yr too
14.5 hrs is late may but I wait just to be safe most yrs

Oh yeah here in NY it's brutal. Last year I was having to revise the outdoor setup in real time whenever the weather would get bad, stake it, net it, whatever I had to do so it didn't get blown out of the ground. Takes a month or so of outdoor exposure before it's hardened enough to even begin to withstand what the weather gets like here

Im in mass so pretty similar. Harden them a week and have support in place early you should be good but ya the occasional strong stuff can be bad

The way these grow, if this is the same variety i grew last year, there's a central cola and then like 7 shoots in a circular pattern around it. Learned the hard way you gotta stake all those when they're still skinny cuz I had one snap off from the damn wind, can lose a good ounce of bud that way. Still got over a lb out of it hoping for the same this year and i'm gonna harvest smarter this year too

It’s up to you. But I’d start cutting back by 45-60 minutes a week until you go outdoors. If your in a bucket you can move the bucket outside on sunny days and then back in at night, Will help against possible sunburn. Hoing from 24 hours to 14.5 hours in one da could cause problems. Twisted leaves, possibly hermie if the genetics aren’t real strong, or if it’s a sensitive early finisher.

Ah ya, my bad. Well hopefully i'll know before i throw too much more money in it, luckily i'm doin it on da cheap. Weather is a pain in the ass here but if you can protect it thats the advantage of starting inside then going outdoor, it doesnt really cost too much as far as setup

What's with the convoluted ladder/tent setup? Anywho. The light off that window would prob do better than the lights you have on it shading out the sun. Plus CFLs are only good for about a few short inches away otherwise the actual light the plant is getting is not even close to the realm of being close to the realm of having enough light to veg that plant for a month.

Budgetary limitations, that's what. But methinks I did this last year with this exact same kit and she turned out ok. For further proof, see below. I'm here to laugh in the face and fart in the general direction of big-box growery. It can be done for cheap! For us minimum wage earning, menial/,manual labor bricks in the wall

Question. There are now four weeks remaining until may 20th which is my set-out date. Daylight will be ~14 hours so in order to progressively reduce light exposure from 24 hours to 14 hours by then I should be giving it ~20 min less light a day.

( 24 hrs - 14 hrs = 10 hrs = 600 min / 28 days = ~21 min / day )

I have it in the middle of a garage so it's not light isolated right now but could this be as simple as getting a light proof black sheet, switching the lights off and covering it for 20 min more each day?

Put your light on 18-6 put it out june 1st and forget about it imo
