I'm a Fairly new grower, less than 5 years, and I've only ever set up my own grows. I've never had anyone help or explain how to "dial in" anything. Last year I won a monster of a light, #Ez8, from a giveaway here on RIU, hosted by @MedicGrow, and I bought a tent that the light would fit in. Well, here we are almost a year later and I'm still fighting temps. Everyone tells me led runs cooler but I'm still regularly in the upper 90s in my flower tent, and that's at 60%power.
On 4/20 the leprechaun was in my corner again and I won the #SE1000W from @Spiderfarmerled. I don't have another tent big enough to try to put the SF into so I had to buy another tent. The SF has a core coverage of 4x4 while the MG has a core of 5x5(I just found out). I started crunching numbers and the difference in volume between a 4x4x6 and a 5x5x6 is huge. About half again what the 4x4 has. (4'x4'x6'=96'³ 5'x5'x6'=150'³) So I have had this light basically starving for room (it touches all 4 walls of a4x4) since i got it. I'm hoping that by getting a 5x5 my heat issue will lessen. I'm also going to be venting outside rather than into the lung room. In summary, just because the light fits doesn't mean that the best option.

Maybe this is just stoned rambling but I was shocked.

Fat fingers on a tiny screen, I wasn't finished when it posted.
yeah, want to show us your room that will blow us all away? i'm curious now that you've brought it up
No, my room won't blow you away, I'm still getting it reorganized in anticipation of my new light. The volume difference is what nuked my brain for a while.

It won't make any difference.

A small space with 400w vs a big space with 400w and the same fan , nothing changes.
The 400w heats a non ventilated small space faster than the bigger space, but ventilated the same fan does more exchanges per hour in the small space than in the big one.
It all equals out.

Ultimately the ventilation need to go outside and even then your only as good as your base temp, the ambient air coming in .

Now the temp rise of the tent is related to watts and air exchange, if you want a 1 degree rise the air exchange needed is huge, if you want a 10 degree rise its massively less. The size of the space doesn't matter.

there is a chart somewhere about what size light fits what size room. i seen it long ago when we still didnt use leds. if you think about it hps was practically the same size for 100W and 1000W
