Theres no fancy formula for air,A 4 port runs 4 stones that simple.But I believe a deeper container like say 2' deep would need more but for a simple dwc nothing special is needed.The cylinder type stones are better I think.Good and heavy lol

1 large air stone per 5g pail works. Good luck with your project.
