The history of Soma's NYCD is that he lost the roiginal parent plants after the early seed releases and modern versions of his product are nothing like the original.
People seeking "that good old NYCD" from his current seeds are consistently frustrated.

ECSD on the other hand is a cutting, and getting something in seed form that captures the qualities of the mother has proven very difficult.
The traits that make it unique must be recessive, and thus are lost easily in most outcrosses.
Most people found the early Rez Sour D IBL release to capture the magic, but later releases (different male) didn't have "it".

You may want to look at lines based on Loompa's Headband for sour diesel essence.
Most recently, Karma's Headbanger has had many reports of capturing the sour magic. That line is based on a Rez Sour D IBL male btw.

Seems the ECSD outcrosses and Bx's that come closest to SourD are ones that use an OG male as the outcross parent.
Just out of curiosity since you seem to have some deep knowledge. What do recommend now in 2022?

Peace

The rez line is very good, I grew a riri cut cross last round and I love it, but nothing compares to the original Sour D-it's one of my all time favorites.

A buddy recently grew Humboldt Seed Co's Collie Man Kush, and that shit was the most "sour" dank I've had the pleasure of smelling. Taste was on point, too. And instead of a fuel/diesel funk, it was more like a semi skunky/super sour funk. Absolutely amazing. I'm hoping my fem will turn out similar.

maybe someone could school me on this.. around 08 i got 2 clones from a guy with s-d written on the cubes. from southern maine , mass area. i believe them to be the original sour diesel and i still have it. a year or 2 later a friend came with some redder colored bud, and smelled and tasted like red onions or something. he proudly said its "diesel" i fuckin hated it.. lol what cut is THE FIRST ORIGINAL sour diesel clone only called?

It was just “Sour Diesel”. All the different cuts came years later and most are the same plant in varying degrees of health IMO.

I have smoked since 1965 and grown almost as long. I also drove OTR and operated heavy equipment. I'm very familiar with diesel fuel and have yet to smell or taste diesel in anything. Just speaking personally of course.
In the 90's in Spanish Harlem NYC I got some weed through a friend and it was straight Kerosene smell and a weird taste but it was good smoke. It is the only "jet fuel" I have smoked and to this day and I remember it. I am also a class A and I have had my fair share of diesel and kero spilled on or around me.

I’ve never tried the nyc diesel though I’ve always really liked the sour diesel. I would defiantly like to try it where do you find the nyc strain at

Joes Sour is the original. Anything labelled NY or EC just doesn't compare.
And Diesel was so common in old mexi brick that custies thought it was smuggled in gastanks. Not true tho because the trailers were full of herb. They needed D in the tanks to transport those trailers.

Wasn't it "Dog Bud"?
No chemdog comes from dogbud supposedly and obviously sour diesel has that in its lineage maybe at onetime folk called chemdog nycd cos they didnt like the name chem but to most it isnt thats a name that only really got big later cos soma released his line called nycd tbh i find it super weak and if you breed with it its like deep chunk it just takes over imo chemdog will always be better also the real diesel daywrecker thats killer too

Sour diesel and somas NYC diesel are 2 completely different varieties. NYC diesel isn't even a diesel, it's just in the name.....it does taste like grapefruit....and it IS a potent, indica leaning hybrid.....sour diesel is mostly sativa.....now the debate of what's real sour diesel is because many (like me) have had "sour diesel" in the early 2000s which tasted Extremely sour, no gas at all.....and nowadays all sour diesels are heavy on gas and may smell sour but rarely taste sour at all ime....like ecsd.....and everyone has "sour diesel" but they are almost all completely different other than the gas flavor - which imo wasn't even present in what I consider sour diesel.

It's complicated lol.

But for JJ, that is the story of HIS sour diesel, which I believe is also or closely related to AJs sour?
