PROPER Drying of cannabis in your Grow room!

I hold it against Rosenthal for humidity and temperature recommendations for drying instructions I see here. It wasn't until I used my grow room for drying that I learned MY way lol.

Alrighty then
I guess I should have included a survey. Like, the temperature, humidity manicured or not. Maybe vented dry room or not. Guess I am angry because I put faith in rollitup contributors. The results not good & back at not square 1 but going with what wasn't broke before I tried to fix it! lol It's funny as hell how many of use do it with negative results for the effort. Maybe this will get me a thumbs up! Later®

Venting, air intake and treatment of air for proper temperature & humidity. I cut plants after 2 dry days in darkness. Hang whole plants. Since plants have a high moisture content humidity will not be a problem for 1st 24 hrs. Regardless of where you are you can get good results if you treat the grow room like like a curing jar. I use Bluetooth connected hygrometer to watch the humidity. With a humidifier & dehumidifier I see the humidifier kicks on at 65% knocking the humidity down to 58 to 60%. The graph on my phone shows the rise and fall. Hygrometer averages all readings for any time or duration that you are interested in. Averages for my room was 62.5% humidity for duration of drying. 210 CFM exhaust fan vents room air to outside. Having kept 1 in "drying" for 3 months it was much more sticky than it's sisters. Rosenthal says 45 to 55%. Mine was crispy critters in 7 days. It NEVER GETS ABOVE 65°F averages 62.5 when I dry. Using good clean, well maintained equipment is a must. A small box fan 12×12 in. is used for in room air movement.

Drying isn't rocket science, and there is a fairly wide range of temps/RH that will result in killer bud. As long as you can stretch the dry to at least 10 days without the bud moisture dropping much below 55%, the result will be good. There is no need for extremely long drying cycles at high RH-moisture is not a friend to terpenes.

Ink birds for humidity you wont need a dehumidifier unless your rh is already high like over 65%. I run in a 4x3 62-64°F 10-14 days. 70% humidity 4in inline fan on its lowest level, small fan on lowest level pointing down and away. Then to jars without humidity pack, with a hygrometer. Humidity should stay between 62% and 70% for about a month dropping every few days. Once humidity drops to 62% or 61% then I'll add a 62% humidity pack. I'll give that about a day to see the humidity stabilize then its stored in a dark cool place preferably a fridge for longer storage you can use a freezer. The cold will drop humidity in jars to right above 55% around 57%. My weed stored in a closet for 6 or 7 months vs the fridge is major. I'll add blacking out the sun from dry room help lower room temps. I live in a desert climate my house stays at 74° with dry tent ranging 62-68 when it gets 120° outside

Dryings pretty straight forward lol. Hang plants in dark climate controlled space. Maintain temp at roughly 60f and rh at roughly 60 have some air movement. Anything else (not counting freeze dryers) is a short cut or sacrifice. Doesn’t mean your end products gonna be bad just not as good as it could’ve been.

Building a 4x12 drying room in my other bedroom just so I don’t have to dry in my grow room anymore. Im kinda sick of sacrificing optimal growth and optimal processing to meet somewhere in the middle.

Rosenthal says to dry at 45 to 55% humidity. That is less than 10 days. Messed up some good weed drying too fast in my journey. Mine is in the jar now setting at 58.7.

I dry in a walk way that’s behind a false wall in the master bedroom with my grow space being a walk in closet at the end of the walk way.

the walkway stays pretty much perfect all year round with the closet intaking some of its air from the walk way under its door.

Plants are able to go into jars after 10-14 days but it’s not uncommon for me to allow harvests to sit here hanging for months without issue.

Those old ass books say a lot of stupid things.

55-65rh is better. 45 gonna have your shit to dry and inconsistently at that.
The Marijuana Growers Guide. I was much younger when it came out. Studied it every night for the longest time. Too old to retain information these days. So, I take notes lol. You are absolutely right! The thing is I ask GOOGLE for the temperature & humidity for drying cannabis & bam! There's Rosenthal's 45 to 55% RH recommendation in my face. At least some of us know better ( me too now) I call Rosenthal's drying style the crispy critters method.

I like this that way the other plants can look in when you open the door and be like oh shit I told you he was going to do that to us and freak out.

To be fair dried like that’s usually not awful just not as good as it could be and certainly shouldn’t be recommended as optimal.

With the juggling act of HVAC system for drying can daunting to newbies. I use AC temperature of 65F humidity control with dehumidifier & humidifier. It is easy to over work the dehumidifier which creates heat lot which in kind gets AC going. Humidity is going to swing as much as as 10 points. Most dehumidifiers will serve you best if placed on 60%. The upper limit may be 63 then bottom out at 58%. Air vented out of the room pulls air into the room. The idea is to balance the appliances used. For example, if your humidifier is to high both AC & Dehumidifier will work harder.
