Max power LED for my tent?

Hi all,

I have a 140W (true) LED and a 400W HPS in my 0.75x0.75m tent. I know it’s an overkill but I’m going for 1 pound monsters. Problem is, the HPS generates to much heat and I have all sorts of problems like burning, foxtailing etc. so I decided to sell both lights and get one really powerful. What is the strongest LED I can have in my tent?

Thanks

Can you please explain?
I know for a fact that there can be too much light for the plants
Exactly and that’s why you want a light that can be dimmed. So the most powerful light you can stuff into that tent. .75 meter = 2.5’. Any led that’s 28” or narrower both ways. You just dim it.

Pretty much what was already said.

Get as powerful of a LED as you can afford, and physically fit in the tent.
Running a high power LED at 50% will give you much better life and heat management compared to running a lower power at 100%

You have roughly 6.25 sq ft of space to work with. I've found that even when I have everything fairly dialed in at my level anything over 40 watts per square foot is overkill, and even that's high, but that's just at my current skill level and without CO2 or anything fancy. Just some organic soil and Timbergrow COB lights. Using that math a 400 watt light could run at like 70% power and give you more than enough light for the plants. My Timber's are 425 watts and do a 3'x3 flowering area at 20" with plenty of light.

A 240w quantum board or equivalent will work.

But 4 boards on the same driver will give better coverage.

You could probably find a bar light around that power too.

You could of also just set up an air cooled hood too but bit late for that.

Or a 315cmh would give great results

How many one pound monsters will you stuff in this 0,75x0,75m tent sucked inside from each side by 5cm due to exhaust?

You're right around 40 watts per square foot, just a tiny bit shy, as I did 2'*2' not 26"*26". That's plenty of light assuming it's a good spectrum, true watts and not advertised watts and it can run at peak power without putting out too much heat due to a poor heat sink. I'd be surprised if all strains would like it dialed up all the way. You would benefit from a light meter to help dial in the ppfd or at least a par meter to get you close. PAR meters aren't really expensive and really can be a big help.

How big is your tent and how well is your environment dialed in? Once you’ve got enough of something more isn’t always better

saw the size hold on doing math

Around 200w led should do the trick. You could probably hit 1/2lb- maybe 12oz if you’re dialed in and good or lucky

Yeah, I think a pound might just fit in that space if planned for and executed to perfection. I don't think it would be the way to grow most during a year, but might be possible to do. I'm not going to say whether op can or can not do it. I mean I doubt it, but so what. Goals are good.

Damn, im scratching my head. I wanted a lb in my 2x4 with 480w. If you achieve a pound in a tent half the length I should be gravyyyyy..

this is going to take a 1”x1” net and a top in each. Toget you close.
