Another alternative to Mylar

Ok i had some trouble finding mylar at my local hardware store so i searched around for anything reflective and cheap.

What i found was those windsheild reflective things that keep your car cool on hot days. Not sure if these are available everywhere but are very common here in the deep south.

In case you don't know what i'm talkin bout.

I cut mine down the middle because both sides are reflective. Works great for a small grow op such as mine.

The thing cost about 5 bucks and could easily be used as a hood also because it is bendable and durable.

Someone has probably already thought of this but just in case I wanted to share this with my fellow growers.

I've always heard that those are bad to use. Such as it reflects heat, which is bad for your plant. Just like aluminum foil. Could be wrong though?

ya i just checked temps about an hour after putting it up... 101 degrees. guess ill have to pick up some flat white paint. damn.

how big of an area are you growing?

it is in an 8 gal rubbermaid box w/ a pc fan for ventilation. waiting on a bigger fan to come in. It stays around 80 normally

definetly raises temp.s but its fine if u have good enough ventilation

you r right those things are bad to use because they don't reflect light properly because of the bumps & bendings... NEVER USE THAT KIND OF REFLECTIVE SURFACES!

Your lost budy, the best reflective surfaces are new german bumpy aluminum.

Bumps are fine, I use mylar and use to use foil years ago, just use the dull side on the foil and your fine.

I get mylar at the party store in the bag stuffing isle.
