I got one of these… is it too close to the tops?

The tops of the plants are about 9 to 12 inches from the light. The reason I am concerned is that a couple of the plants are foxtailing. Actually it’s my wife who thinks maybe they are getting too much light or heat. I think it might be a genetic trait because the plants are from the same batch of bastard hybrids from a previous grow, known mother/unknown father. This is one of the foxtailing plants.

The tent does get a little warm every morning before someone wakes up and opens it, but I doubt it gets much above 90 F.

Try to stay at least a foot away with that light. If you have it on straps loose them and just put it on the bar. Leave your arm in the light for 2 minutes. You can tell what's comfortable

…..getting a couple fans.
Getting a couple fans for circulation inside the tent is a wise thing to do. Another wise thing to do would be to invest in an exhaust fan.

Unless that’s included in your “fans” statement. Keep the air moving. Stagnant air leads to no good. Not being an asshole, being serious. Some things you can skimp on, some things shouldn’t be skimped on

I will try to get an exhaust fan but anything else is probably outside my budgetary capacity for the time being. The plants have done okay so far but the latest crop includes some genetics that I’m not familiar with.

I don’t know your budget, but maybe start here:
Post in the thread for a coupon on an exhaust. The guys that are good with that stuff might be able to help you out. Sometimes some friggin good deals can be had in that thread.

Edit to add:

You don’t need to spend big bucks on an exhaust. Just something decent enough to pull in fresh air and exhaust out air. I personally have a few AC Infinity 4” and 6” fans and love them. May be out of your budget right now, but something by to consider in the future.

that light will cover about a 2X3 area, you're going to need another one if you want to get good results in a 4X4 tent. anything outside that 2X3 area is going to be getting pretty weak coverage.
a rule of thumb is 30 watts of leds per sq. foot during flower. your light is 200 watts, that's slightly over 6 sq. feet of coverage, and you have 16 sq. feet. even with two of those, you'll be getting the bare minimum.
