What would your second choice be? I was using t5's to veg them about 12" above the canopy. I'm thinking they should suck up any light from a flouresent and not hide from it. What you think?Too much light. Vegging plants don’t need a lot of light. Suggest buying a quantum PAR meter and reading up on PPFD.
Its strange cause a couple hours earlier they were praying to the light gods then did that. They went from just flat when I got home to praying then turning sideways. Before I went to work today I checked them and her leaves went back to normal but was droopy cause she was sleeping.Too much light. Vegging plants don’t need a lot of light. Praying can also be light avoidance. As they turn to minimize surface area. But you best listen to the cannabis growers at Mars. The one plant that leaf isn't underneath the light so she's not getting the full 50% power on the outside perimeter. So I was thinking it can't be lighting. It's 24" above which is 6" above manufacturers suggested height.
Mars Hydro suggests for Veg 18" plus 5" for TS series and 50 to 75% on the dimmer.
I just follow their guidelines. I understand it's not the correct guidance for all strains. But they know they sell their lights to many cannabis growers so they at least have a baseline.Praying can also be light avoidance. As they turn to minimize surface area. I run a cheap 640 watt LED and in veg I run no more than 500 PPFD. Strongly recommend a quantum PAR meter for anyone using LED. Less than $200. Rechargeable. I ran the last 2 grows basically the same with the lights. In veg dimmer set between 50 and 75%. Lights about 24". In flower last grow had it 15" from the canopy cause i ran out of ceiling because of the DWC kush plant. Seemed around 60 to 65% was the sweet spot. I know they like blue spectrum in veg so the full spectrum is probably hitting them hard. I always thought light and heat stress signs were bleaching of the top leaves and the leaves canoeing like a taco.
I can lower the dimmer to 40% see if they keep doing it.
$200 for a PAR meter is a really good price considering they were 2 or 3 times that a couple of years ago. Any brand(s) that you recommend?... Strongly recommend a quantum PAR meter for anyone using LED. Less than $200 ...
Mine is a Hydrofarm type. Checked against my neighbor’s expensive Apogee and within 15 PPFD high or low at full power and half power under 3 different lights.$200 for a PAR meter is a really good price considering they were 2 or 3 times that a couple of years ago. Any brand(s) that you recommend?
Now you can pay 6$ a gallon gas under Potato BidenThis is what a friend bought. Comparable to mine. $170. Mine was way cheaper before Trump’s trade war bullshit.
